INDOOR TRACK & FIELD OPENS SEASON AT UMASS BOSTON INVITE
ROXBURY, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Teams opened the winter season this past Saturday at the UMass Boston Invitational, hosted at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center. The Saints turned in 36 collegiate personal bests in just the first meet of the season.

Sophomore Ashley Brooks (Danvers, Mass.) kicked off the 2014-15 campaign with a record-setting day in the high jump. Brooks placed 6th overall with her new Emmanuel program-record jump, hitting 5'1 and qualifying for the New England Division III Championships.
Freshman Paige Depasquale (Maynard, Mass.) began her collegiate career in style, launching the shot put 31'1" and the weight throw 30'11. Her throws rank second and third respectively, amongst Emmanuel's all-time indoor leaders.
On the track, senior Martina Benassi (North Haven, Conn.) returned after an extremely successful cross country season with the Saints, sprinting to a 5:46.63 personal record in the women's 1 Mile. Her indoor mile time currently ranks 3rd in the Emmanuel record books. Sophomore Micaela Fraccalossi (Plymouth, Mass.) raced to her personal best with an 8.48 finish in the 60m. Junior Zoe Pierce-Dickens (Franklin, Vt.) notched a 27.96 personal record in the women's 200m.
Leading the way for the Emmanuel men was rookie Francisco Tavares (Boston, Mass.), who sprinted to a 23.55 finish in the 200m. Tavares' time ranks him 4th in this event among Emmanuel's all-time best. His long jump landed 19'11.75" and puts him at 2nd all-time in EC program history.
Tavares also ran the lead-off leg in the men's 4x400m relay, teaming up with Adam Julien (New Orleans, La.), Brian Uram (Westford, Mass.) and Thomas Tallo (Lincoln, R.I.) to cross the line 5th overall in a time of 3:35.42.
Tallo also ran a solid individual event placing 7th overall in his 800m event with a time of 2:04.18. Sophomore Ian Chamenko (Beacon Falls, Conn.) recorded his personal best time of 9:43.37 in the men's 3K.
The Saints will now break for the holidays, but will return to action in January, competing again at the Reggie Lewis Center on Saturday, January 10th, in the Tiger Invite.
