BOSTON – A combination of three student-athletes from the Emmanuel men's volleyball program, two members of the men's lacrosse program, and one player from the men's golf program have been named College Sports Communicators (CSC) At-Large Selections to the CSC Academic All-District Team®, as announced by the CSC on June 25.
Class of 2025's Louis Da Silva (Marseilles, France) and class of 2026's Nick Sciabica (Floral Park, N.Y.) and Michael Shelley (San Francisco, Calif.) represent men's volleyball. Class of 2025's Evan Decker (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Sanzio DiGesualdo (Niskayuna, N.Y.) represent men's lacrosse. Class of 2025's Gianni Ridolfi (Kittery, Maine) represents men's golf on the CSC Academic At-Large Team®.
Various athletic criteria were necessary for nomination to the CSC Academic At-Large All-District Team®, changing the previous criteria used in years past. To be nominated from men's volleyball or men's lacrosse, a student-athlete had to compete in 90 percent of a team's total games played or be a starter in 66 percent of those contests.
For golf, student-athletes required participation in 70 percent of a team's events that used team scoring as the format. Individual performances and invitations to tournaments to play as an individual did not count toward the 70 percent threshold.
Da Silva scores his first nomination to the CSC Academic All-District Team® after another strong season patrolling the court at the middle blocker position. Over 23 starts and 74 sets, Da Silva set a new career-high with 69 blocks and ranked 28th in NCAA Division III with 0.93 blocks per set.
Sciabica earns the nomination in his first year of eligibility after 23 starts and 75 sets. The program's starting libero finished fourth in the conference in digs per set this season at 1.99.
Shelley joins the At-Large men's volleyball student-athletes in his first eligible season after a breakout sophomore season. Shelley made 22 starts and played 69 sets while finishing third in the country in kills per set (4.90) and points per set (5.81). The second-year outside hitter was a First Team All-Conference Player, an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region 1 Team Member, and named to the AVCA All-America Honorable Mention List in 2024.
Decker put together another solid season in 2024 for the men's lacrosse program and makes his first CSC At-Large Academic All-District Team®. Decker started 15 games for the Saints defense this season and led the Saints with 27 caused turnovers.
DiGesualdo makes his first CSC At-Large Academic All-District Team® following his best season in a Saints uniform. A starting midfielder nearly all season, DiGesualdo appeared in all 17 games and ended his breakout year with 34 points on 21 goals and 13 assists.
Ridolfi makes history by becoming the first men's golfer in program history named a CSC At-Large Academic All-District Team® nominee. Ridolfi met the 70 percent participation threshold after appearing in seven of 10 events this season.
Familiar criteria remained in place as nominees must still be sophomores in academic standing and hold a 3.50 cumulative GPA. Graduate students are judged based on their final undergraduate cumulative GPA for nomination until a new graduate program GPA has been established.
Unlike in past years, the nomination to the Academic All-District® team does not necessarily move a student-athlete into consideration for the Academic All-America® ballot. A committee, comprised of Academic All-America® Core Members and members from the CSC will determine which athletes move to the All-America ballot.
Once the ballot is released, CSC members have until July 2 to vote for Academic All-Americans®. The CSC will announce the Academic All-America® Teams on Tuesday, July 16, and Wednesday, July 17.
