2022 Emmanuel College Athletics Senior Awards Announced
BOSTON, Mass. - The 2022 Emmanuel College Athletic Department Senior Awards have been announced, honoring a total of 17 student-athletes and three staff members.
BOSTON, Mass. - The 2022 Emmanuel College Athletic Department Senior Awards have been announced, honoring a total of 17 student-athletes and three staff members.
At the conclusion of each academic year, the Emmanuel Athletic staff comes together to honor the numerous accomplishments achieved by the graduating class and, following an internal nomination and voting process, bestow awards upon deserving individuals for nine distinguished honors: Perseverance Award, Scholar Athlete Award, Unsung Hero Award, Sportsmanship Award, Leadership Award, Inspiration Award, Saints Club Award, HALO'S Award and the Andrew Yosinoff Athletic Achievement Award.
All seniors honored are nominated by their Head Coaches or an Emmanuel College staff member before a selection committee made up of department representatives selects each award recipient based on the award descriptions.
These honors are presented at an end of year Senior Athletic Banquet on campus that was held on May 9, 2022 in the Eisner Administration Building Auditorium.

2022 Senior Award Recipients
Senior Perseverance Award - Campbell Shealy (Men's Soccer) Given annually to a senior student-athlete who has shown great determination in overcoming physical setbacks. Through hard work and dedication, this senior has been able to overcome the challenges set forth and successfully return to athletic competition. SENIOR SUMMARY: Campbell battled to stay on the field throughout his career after several hip surgeries that could have sidelined him for good. The midfielder appeared in 48 games for the Saints, earning 40 starts and was able to accumulate 18 points on five goals and eight assists. He earned GNAC Rookie of the Week honors during his first season and went on to earn GNAC Academic All-Conference honors three times. He earned the 2021 Coaches' Appreciation Award following his final season. |

Senior Scholar Athlete Award - Hannah Sullivan (Women's Soccer) Given annually to a male and a female member of the senior class who combine excellence in the classroom with excellence on the playing field and have maintained the highest cumulative grade point average among the senior student-athletes. SENIOR SUMMARY: Hannah was a 4-year member of the Emmanuel women's soccer program. Over her career she played in 52 career games, earning 16 starts. She registered nine points as a Saint on two goals and five assists, attempting 42 total shots out of the forward position. Hannah was also a Rockstar in the classroom. Majoring in bio statistics, Hannah entered her final semester at Emmanuel with an impressive 3.975 cumulative GPA. She's been a member of the GNAC Academic All-Conference team each of the past three years. |

Senior Scholar Athlete Award - Charlie King III (Men's Golf) Given annually to a male and a female member of the senior class who combine excellence in the classroom with excellence on the playing field and have maintained the highest cumulative grade point average among the senior student-athletes. SENIOR SUMMARY: Charlie was a two-year member of the Men's Golf program, joining as a junior and competing through the end of his senior season. The tall righty made his collegiate debut at the 2020-21 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship at Granite Links in Quincy, Mass. He would go on to compete in three matches during his senior campaign. Majoring in Business Managament with a concentration in Sports Management and a minor in Marketing, Charlie posted the highest cumulative GPA among male student-athletes in the graduating class of 2022 at 3.988. |

Senior Unsung Hero Award - Avery Webb (Softball) Given annually to a senior athlete who has exhibited leadership, dedication, and athletic achievement in quiet ways, which may have gone unrecognized throughout his or her career. SENIOR SUMMARY: Webb appeared in 91 games for the Saints, catching nearly every inning for the team her final two seasons. She called games for a pair of GNAC Pitchers of the Year and only allowed one passed ball behind the dish her entire collegiate career. Offensively, she posted a .294 average with 63 runs scored, 48 RBI and 31 walks to combined for a .378 OBP and .433 slugging percentage. Webb was named to the GNAC All-Conference Third Team in 2021 when she helped lead the Saints to the program's first GNAC Championship and has been a GNAC Academic All-Conference recipient each of the past two seasons. |

Senior Unsung Hero Award - Jessica Borduas (Women's Lacrosse) Given annually to a senior athlete who has exhibited leadership, dedication, and athletic achievement in quiet ways, which may have gone unrecognized throughout his or her career. SENIOR SUMMARY: A four-year member for the Women's Lacrosse program, Jess appeared in 44 games and started 40 for the Saints. She joined the 100 point club during the final game of the regular-season her senior year and finished her career with 103 points on 73 goals and 30 assists. Borduas graduates ranked 12th all-time in points and goals and 10th all-time in assists. She was named to the GNAC Academic All-Conference squad three times and also served as the Women's Basketball Team Manager during the 2020-21 GNAC Championship campaign. |

Senior Sportsmanship Award - Tyler Behsman (Men's Volleyball) Given annually to the senior athlete who has conducted his or herself in the highest manner on the playing field, including interactions with players, coaches, and officials. SENIOR SUMMARY: Tyler served as a team captain each of the final two playing season and ended his career as the lone senior on the team. Over three playing seasons, the libero appeared in 56 matches and 183 sets for the Saints. He registered 362 career digs averaging just under 2.00 digs per set. He earned the Coaches' Appreciation Award both his junior and senior campaign and also worked for the Athletic Department during his senior season as an admin assistant in the volleyball office. |

Senior Sportsmanship Award - Riley Lahiff (Women's Basketball) Given annually to the senior athlete who has conducted his or herself in the highest manner on the playing field, including interactions with players, coaches, and officials. SENIOR SUMMARY: Riley was a four-year member of the Women's Basketball program and helped lead the Saints to three consecutive GNAC Championships to close our her career. An everyday starter her final two campaigns, the forward appeared in 85 career games, earning 50 starts and scored 549 career points while grabbing 405 rebounds, dishing out 210 assists and collecting 174 steals. A three-time GNAC Academic All-Conference selection, Lahiff also earned the Team Academic Award and Co-MVP as a junior and the Unsung Hero Award her senior season. |

Senior Leadership Award - Ethan Skinner (Men's Soccer) Given annually to a senior athlete who has distinguished his or herself by demonstrating the qualities desired to lead successful teams throughout his or her athletic career. SENIOR SUMMARY: Skinner was a four-year member of the Men's Soccer program, playing in 50 career games and starting 47 of them in the Saints backfield. The defender earned a spot on the GNAC All-Conference Second Team as a sophomore and senior as well as the GNAC Academic All-Conference squad each of his final three campaigns. Ethan finished his career with six points, all coming his senior year, on two goals and two assists. He worked for the Athletic Department throughout his Emmanuel tenure as an office assistant and also served as a team captain for the Saints during his final two seasons. |

Senior Leadership Award - Renae Lacroix (Softball) Given annually to a senior athlete who has distinguished his or herself by demonstrating the qualities desired to lead successful teams throughout his or her athletic career. SENIOR SUMMARY: A four-year member and starter for the Softball program, Renae served as a team captain each of her final two seasons and helped lead the team to the program's first-ever GNAC Championship and NCAA tournament berth in 2021. She collected her 100th career hit during her final season and capped her career with a .289 batting average, 68 runs scored, 43 RBI and 35 stolen bases. Lacroix earned GNAC All-Conference honors in two different positions, earning Third Team All-Conference honors her rookie season at shortstop and Second Team All-Conference honors as a junior in the Outfield. |

Senior Inspiration Award - John "JD" Doherty Honors the outstanding senior athlete who best represents the graduating class in scholarship, leadership and sportsmanship. SENIOR SUMMARY: JD burst onto the collegiate scene at EC playing in and starting all 17 games during his rookie campaign in 2019. After COVID cut the 2020 season short and an injury sidelined him for part of the 2021 campaign, JD remained a great contributor to the program both on and off the field over his final playing campaign. Over his career he played in 42 games, starting 24 as a defender and recorded 46 groundballs and caused 23 turnovers. He also added two points on one goal and one assist and was a three-time member of the GNAC All-Academic squad. |

Senior Inspiration Award - Lauren Sterling (Women's Track & Field/Cross Country) Honors the outstanding senior athlete who best represents the graduating class in scholarship, leadership and sportsmanship. SENIOR SUMMARY: Lauren was a four-year member of the Track & Field program and also joined the Cross Country squad for her senior season. She was a pivotal part of the Saints GNAC Championship wins in the 2020 Indoor season and 2022 Outdoor season as a jumper and hurdler. She served as a team captain for the 2022 GNAC Championship outdoor season, leading a group of young Saints to the win despite being ranked fourth out of five in the pre-championship coaches' poll. Lauren also worked for the Athletics Game Day Operations team for all four years of her time at Emmanuel and was a valued member of the game-day staff. |

Saints Club Award -Joey Reed (Men's Track & Field/Cross Country) Honors the senior athlete who best represents and exemplifies the spirit of the College's athletic program. SENIOR SUMMARY: Joey joined the Emmanuel Track & Field program midway through his first year of college and was a mainstay in the Saints lineup throughout the remainder of his career. He served as a team captain for both the indoor and outdoor teams during both his junior and senior seasons and also came aboard the Cross Country program for his final two years. He PR'd in several events during his senior campaign including the high jump (1.75 meters) and long jump (5.33 meters) and was a great team leader and motivator. |

Saints Club Award - Anna Caristi (Women's Volleyball) Honors the senior athlete who best represents and exemplifies the spirit of the College's athletic program. SENIOR SUMMARY: Anna was a four-year member of the Women's Volleyball program, appearing in 53 matches over her career. The middle hitter registered 260 kills and a .206 attacking percentage to go along with 71 total blocks, 48 digs and two aces. Caristi received GNAC Academic All-Conference honors her final three seasons and was named the team's Unsung Hero in 2021. The middle hitter was a team captain her final season and also worked for the Athletic Department her senior year as a line judge during the men's volleyball campaign. |

HALO'S Award - Giovanni Ciampa (Men's Basketball) Honors the senior athlete who best represents Emmanuel with Heart, Attitude, Loyalty, Outstanding athletic ability and demonstrated success as a Student. SENIOR SUMMARY: Gio was a four-year member of the Men's Basketball program, playing in 76 career games and earning 46 starts in the EC backcourt. He wrapped his career with 307 points, 159 rebounds, 131 assists, 24 steals and 11 blocked shots. Described as one of the most dedicated and committed members of the program, Gio was named a Co-MVP of the team for his junior campaign and also earned GNAC Academic All-Conference honors as a sophomore, junior and senior. |

HALO'S Award - Chandra Franca (Women's Lacrosse) Honors the senior athlete who best represents Emmanuel with Heart, Attitude, Loyalty, Outstanding athletic ability and demonstrated success as a Student. SENIOR SUMMARY: A four-year player and starter for the Women's Lacrosse program, Chandra played in 44 games and started 43 of them for the Saints. A prolific scorer, she closed her career with 147 points on 121 goals and 26 assists and graduates ranked third all-time in goals scored and fourth all-time in points. Her 45 free position goals rank first all-time while her 86 draw controls rank 11th. She was named to the GNAC All-Conference First Team in 2022 and Second Team in 2021 and served as a team captain her senior campaign. Franca also earned a spot on the GNAC Academic All-Conference team each of her final three seasons and appeared on the GNAC Weekly Report a total of six times, earning a spot on the GNAC All-Tournament team during both the 2021 and 2022 postseason runs. |

Andrew Yosinoff Athletic Achievement Award - Loren D'Agostino (Women's Basketball) Given annually to a senior athlete who has excelled on the playing field and provided the greatest contribution to the athletic reputation of Emmanuel College through exceptional athletic achievement. SENIOR SUMMARY: Loren helped lead the Women's Basketball program to three consecutive GNAC championships and berths to the NCAA tournament in an impressive career on the hardwood. She played in 76 games, starting 51 and over her three playing seasons scored 678 points and grabbed 442 rebounds. She was named the GNAC Defensive Player of the Year, a First Team All-Conference and Third Team All-Region selection as a senior as well as the GNAC Tournament Most Valuable Player. Loren was also a three-time GNAC Academic All-Conference recipient and over her career appeared on the GNAC Weekly Report a total of 10 times. |

Andrew Yosinoff Athletic Achievement Award - Kennedy Davignon (Women's Soccer/Track & Field) Given annually to a senior athlete who has excelled on the playing field and provided the greatest contribution to the athletic reputation of Emmanuel College through exceptional athletic achievement. SENIOR SUMMARY: Kennedy was a four-year member of the EC women's soccer program, walking on to the team as a first-year player but quickly establishing herself as one of the most athletic members on the team, playing literally every single position on the pitch, including goalkeeper, over her career. Kennedy started every single game from her sophomore season on in the EC backfield that combined to post 18 shutouts over her career. She was named the 2021 GNAC Defensive Player of the Year with a spot on the All-Conference First Team. Kennedy also helped the Women's Indoor Track & Field program win the inaugural GNAC Championship in 2020, winning two events including the 200 meter dash and 4x400 meter relay. For her efforts, she was named the 2020 GNAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year, making her one of only just three student-athletes in Emmanuel College athletics history to win two GNAC Major Awards in two different sports. |
