TENNIS TEAM DISCONTINUED FOLLOWING 2012-13 SEASON

Following careful consideration, Emmanuel College has discontinued its varsity Women’s Tennis Program. This decision was based significantly on the Athletics Department’s evaluation of the College’s ability to provide a quality tennis experience for both current and future students given a lack of facilities for practice and competition.

SAINTS ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT HOSTS ANNUAL AWARDS NIGHT

The Emmanuel College Athletic Department hosted its Annual Awards Night and Dessert Reception last weekend, celebrating the Saints success during the 2012-2013 athletic seasons. Student-athletes, coaches, supportive families and fans filled the gymnasium of Emmanuel's Jean Yawkey Center on Saturday evening, April 27th, for the annual athletic recognition night. The event featured award presentations by the head coaches of each of Emmanuel's varsity programs and spirit teams, as well as major award presentations by Saints staff and administrators. Emmanuel's food service division, Bon Appetit, provided a delectable buffet of dessert selections for all of the attendees.

2012 WOMEN’S TENNIS SEASON IN REVIEW

The Emmanuel College Women’s Tennis Team put together another successful season in the Fall of 2012. The Saints finished the year with an 11-7 overall record and a 6-2 mark in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). After finishing 3rd in the conference during the regular season, the Saints made their 10th straight GNAC Tournament appearance. Emmanuel hosted Anna Maria College in the opening round of the tournament and swept the 6th-seeded AMCATs, 9-0. The Saints’ season ended the semifinal round, when Emmanuel suffered a 7-2 loss to the 2nd-seeded Lions of Emerson College on October 20th.

SAINTS FLOOD GNAC TENNIS ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced the 2012 Women’s All-Conference Teams and Emmanuel student-athletes made a strong showing on teams. The Saints were well-represented, with Emmanuel players accounting for four of the sixteen All-Conference honorees. Sophomore Alex Hadlock (Framingham, Mass.) was a 1st Team All-Conference selection, while Juniors Amanda Woznicki (Bristol, Conn.) and Jenny Konecnik (Sparta, N.J.), as well as sophomore Jenni Hewes (Cape Elizabeth, Me.) were named to the 2nd Team All-GNAC.

TENNIS TEAM STOPPED SHORT IN GNAC SEMIFINALS

WINCHESTER, Mass. – The third-seeded Emmanuel Women’s Tennis Team came up short on Saturday night, falling to local rival Emerson College in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Semifinals for the second-straight year. After a strong 9-0 win over Anna Maria College in the conference quarterfinals on Wednesday, the Saints suffered a 7-2 loss to second-seeded Emerson on Saturday. The Lions hosted their semifinal match on the six indoor courts at the Winchester Lawn and Tennis Club.

The Emmanuel College women’s tennis squad collected a 9-0 victory over Anna Maria College Wednesday evening in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tournament Quarterfinals at the Winsor Courts.

2012 GNAC WOMEN’S TENNIS BRACKET ANNOUNCED

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference has announced the 2012 Women's Tennis Championship Bracket, featuring six teams including defending champion, Simmons College. After going a perfect 8-0 in GNAC play this year, Simmons has earned the #1 seed and a first round bye in this week's tournament play. Also earning a bye is the #2 seed, the Emerson College Lions, who posted a 6-2 record in GNAC action.

HADLOCK SELECTED GNAC TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Emmanuel College sophomore Alex Hadlock (Framingham, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending on October 13th. This is Hadlock’s fifth GNAC weekly honor and her second time named the conference’s Player of the Week this season.

TENNIS TEAM POSTS 3RD-STRAIGHT 9-0 WIN

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Women’s Tennis Team cruised to its third-straight shutout win, defeating Lesley University, 9-0, on Monday night. The non-conference match was the final regular season contest for both teams. With the win, the Saints wrapped up the regular season at 10-6 overall.

EC WOMEN’S TENNIS CRUISES PAST ANNA MARIA, 9-0

The Emmanuel College women’s tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Anna Maria College Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the Winsor Courts. With the victory, the Saints improve to 9-6 overall on the year and 6-2 in GNAC action to secure the third seed in the upcoming GNAC tournament. The loss drops the AMCats to 3-10 overall and 3-5 in GNAC play which is good enough for the sixth seed in the GNAC tourney.

The Emmanuel College women’s tennis team posted a dominant 9-0 victory over the University of Saint Joseph (CT) Thursday evening at the Winsor School Courts. Before the match, the Saints honored its two seniors in Christine Cuddemi (Saugus, Mass.) and Jenna Reid (Lincoln, R.I.).

WOMEN’S TENNIS SWINGS PAST JOHNSON & WALES, 7-2

The Emmanuel College women’s tennis team posted an important 7-2 victory over Johnson & Wales University Monday afternoon at the Winsor School Courts. Led by a dominant 5-1 showing in singles play, the Saints improve to 7-6 overall and 4-2 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action while the loss is just the Wildcats second of the year as they fall to 9-2-1 overall and 4-2 in the GNAC.

TENNIS TEAM FALLS TO EMERSON, 6-3

WATERTOWN, Mass. – The Emerson College Women's Tennis Team outlasted the Emmanuel Saints on Saturday afternoon, 6-3, at the Victory Field Courts. After an epic battle with neighboring Simmons College the night before, the exhausted Saints couldn’t manage to get past the host Lions, falling to 6-6 on the year and 3-2 in conference action. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win set Emerson’s record at 6-3 overall and 5-2 in the league.

SHARKS NIP SAINTS IN LENGTHY TENNIS BATTLE

BOSTON, Mass – The Emmanuel Women’s Tennis Team gave Simmons College its toughest match in recent years, battling for over four hours, before falling in a 6-3 decision. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match was played under the lights at the Winsor School Courts on Friday night. The defending GNAC Champion Sharks took two of three doubles matches and four of the six singles contests, as they improved to 8-1 overall and 6-0 in GNAC play. The Saints fell to 6-5 on the season and were handed their first conference loss, dropping to 3-1 in the league.

Emmanuel College freshman Daniela Tueme (South Easton, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week, it was announced today by the conference office.

WOMEN'S TENNIS DROPS NON-CONFERENCE MATCH VS. CURRY, 6-3

The Curry College women’s tennis team defeated Emmanuel College 6-3 on Thursday afternoon. The Colonels improve to 6-5 overall while the Saints fell to 6-4.
