2012 WOMEN’S TENNIS SEASON IN REVIEW
The Emmanuel College Women’s Tennis Team put together another successful season in the Fall of 2012. The Saints finished the year with an 11-7 overall record and a 6-2 mark in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). After finishing 3rd in the conference during the regular season, the Saints made their 10th straight GNAC Tournament appearance. Emmanuel hosted Anna Maria College in the opening round of the tournament and swept the 6th-seeded AMCATs, 9-0. The Saints’ season ended the semifinal round, when Emmanuel suffered a 7-2 loss to the 2nd-seeded Lions of Emerson College on October 20th.

Sophomore Alex Hadlock (Framingham, Mass.) led the Saints from Emmanuel's top singles position. Hadlock went 10-4 in No. 1 singles play and teamed up with junior Amanda Woznicki (Bristol, Conn.) for a 7-5 record in top doubles matches. Hadlock was named the GNAC Player of the Week on September 10th and October 14th this season and ended the year by earning a spot on the GNAC All-Tournament Team. Hadlock was voted GNAC 1st Team All-Conference for the second consecutive year.
Woznicki, one of the Saints' co-captains, competed in the 2nd singles position for the Saints and finished the year with an 8-6 record, including a 5-2 GNAC singles record. Woznicki also notched three wins in her four No. 1 singles matches played this year for the Saints. She was named the GNAC Player of the Week on September 24th and earned a spot on the GNAC All-Conference 2nd Team.
Senior captain Jenna Reid (Lincoln, R.I.) played in the 3rd singles position for the Saints and recorded an overall record of 9-7 on the year. She also teamed up with both junior Jenny Konecnik (Sparta, N.J.) and sophomore Jenni Hewes (Cape Elizabeth, Me.) for a 6-7 record in No. 2 doubles matches. Reid, a three-time GNAC All-Conference selection, was named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team for the 2012 season.
Konecnik posted the most impressive singles record for Emmanuel this season, notching 13 wins for the Saints. Her 13-3 overall record included an undefeated 7-0 mark during her regular season GNAC matches and an 11-2 overall record from her 4th singles position. Konecnik was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll on October 8th and was voted to the GNAC 2nd Team All-Conference.
After an excellent rookie season, Hewes continued her collegiate career with a stellar sophomore campaign, starting in Emmanuel's No. 5 singles position. Hewes went 12-4 overall in singles play and ended the season on an incredible 10-match win streak, which she will carry into the 2013 season. She also recorded an unprecedented "golden match" in a singles win over her Mount Ida College opponent on September 24th. Hewes scored 48-straight points, without an error, en route to a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win. She was subsequently named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll on October 1st. Hewes was also voted a GNAC 2nd Team All-Conference selection.
Freshman Daniela Tueme (South Easton, Mass.) put together a solid rookie season, earning a spot in the Saints' starting line-up as the No. 6 singles player. Tueme finished her first collegiate year with an 11-6 record, which also included wins in the No. 2, 4 and 5 positions. Tueme was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll on September 17th and was voted the GNAC Rookie of the Week on October 1st.
Head Coach Rob Miller will lose Reid and fellow senior Christine Cuddemi (Saugus, Mass.) to graduation this May.
