2013 WOMEN’S LACROSSE SEASON IN REVIEW

The Emmanuel College Women’s Lacrosse Team put together its most successful season ever this spring, boasting a program-record for wins in a season and advancing to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play-offs for the second-straight year. The Saints wrapped up the 2013 campaign at 9-5 overall and 5-4 in GNAC play.

SAINTS ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT HOSTS ANNUAL AWARDS NIGHT

The Emmanuel College Athletic Department hosted its Annual Awards Night and Dessert Reception last weekend, celebrating the Saints success during the 2012-2013 athletic seasons. Student-athletes, coaches, supportive families and fans filled the gymnasium of Emmanuel's Jean Yawkey Center on Saturday evening, April 27th, for the annual athletic recognition night. The event featured award presentations by the head coaches of each of Emmanuel's varsity programs and spirit teams, as well as major award presentations by Saints staff and administrators. Emmanuel's food service division, Bon Appetit, provided a delectable buffet of dessert selections for all of the attendees.

TULEJA & MATTOX RECEIVE ALL-GNAC WOMEN’S LACROSSE HONORS

Following a record-setting 2013 season, three members of the Emmanuel College Women’s Lacrosse Team were honored by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). Freshman midfielder Kristen Tuleja (Mansfield, Mass.) and sophomore defenseman Megan Mattox (Upton, Mass.) were named GNAC 2nd Team All-Conference selections, while senior captain Madeline Leahy (Cohasset, Mass.) earned a spot on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

SAINTS FALL TO MONKS IN GNAC WOMEN'S LACROSSE QUARTERFINALS, 17-9

SCARBOROUGH, Maine - #4 Saint Joseph’s College (11-6, 6-3 GNAC) topped #5 Emmanuel College (9-5, 5-4 GNAC) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Lacrosse Tournament quarterfinal at Scarborough High School on Wednesday evening.

LEAHY, WHITE COLLECT GNAC WEEKLY HONORS

BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel women’s lacrosse players, Madeline Leahy and Lauren White, were among the Great Northeast Athletic Conference’s Weekly award winners for the week ending on April 20. White was named the GNAC Goalie of the Week, an honor she is receiving for the second time this year, while Leahy was named to the conference’s Weekly Honor Roll.

EMMANUEL CELEBRATES SENIOR DAY WITH WIN OVER ANNA MARIA

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Women’s Lacrosse Team celebrated the Saints’ regular season finale and senior day with an 18-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win over Anna Maria College on Sunday evening. The GNAC contest played on Roberto Clemente Field was the last home game for Emmanuel seniors Hillary Carr (Narragansett, R.I.), Jessica Lucas (Stoneham, Mass.) and Madeline Leahy (Cohasset, Mass.).

STRONG FIRST HALF POWERS WOMEN’S LACROSSE OVER WHEELOCK, 15-4

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women’s lacrosse team jumped out to an 11-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 15-4 non-conference victory Thursday evening over Wheelock College at Roberto Clemente Field. With the victory, the Saints improve to 8-4 on the year while the loss drops the Wildcats to 2-9 overall.

TULEJA NAMED WOMEN’S LACROSSE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Emmanuel College freshman Kristen Tuleja was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for her play during the Saints’ three GNAC games last week. The freshman attack continued her strong play for the Saints, as she registered 12 points on the week with 10 goals and two assists.

LIONS CHARGE PAST WOMEN'S LACROSSE, 18-12

BOSTON, Mass. – A second-half surge by the Emmanuel Saints wasn't enough to stop the potent offense of the Emerson Women's Lacrosse Team as the Lions rolled to an 18-12 win Saturday. With the win the Lions improve to 8-6 on the year and 5-2 in conference play as Emmanuel falls to 7-4 overall and 4-4 in the GNAC.

SAINT JOSEPH'S HANDS WOMEN'S LAX FIRST HOME LOSS IN 15-14 DEFEAT

BOSTON, Mass. - The Saint Joseph's College (Maine) Women's Lacrosse team used a balance offensive attack to defeat Emmanuel College, 15-14, Wednesday night at Roberto Clemente Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. With the victory, the Monks improve to 8-5 on the year and 4-2 in the GNAC while the loss drops the Saints to 7-3 overall and 4-3 in GNAC play, snapping their four-game conference and five-game home winning streak.

BOSTON, Mass. - Emmanuel College freshman Lauren White (Lynnfield, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Goalie of the Week for the week ending on April 7, it was announced by the conference office.

WOMEN'S LAX HOLDS ON FOR 13-12 WIN OVER RIVIER

BOSTON, Mass. - With the help of an own goal in the final minute, the Emmanuel College women's lacrosse team defeated Rivier University, 13-12, Monday evening at Roberto Clemente Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. The Saints improve to 7-2 on the year, bumping their GNAC record to 4-2 while the loss drops the Raiders to 6-4 and 3-3 in GNAC play.

SAINTS EDGE MUSTANGS, 8-6, FOR EMMANUEL'S SEASON WIN RECORD

BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Women's Lacrosse Team defeated Mount Ida College, 8-6, on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action played on Roberto Clemente Field. The win was the Saints' sixth of the year, setting a new Emmanuel program-record for wins in a single season. The Saints improved to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play, while the loss dropped Mount Ida to 4-7 on the season and 2-4 in GNAC games.

BURLINGTON, Vt. –Freshman Sarah Higgins (Groveland, Mass.) and sophomore Madison Altwies (Southington, Conn.) recorded four goals each to lead the Emmanuel College Women’s Lacrosse Team to a 13-7 win over the Cadets of Norwich University on Wednesday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the University of Vermont’s Virtue Field.

BALANCED OFFENSE POWERS WOMEN’S LAX PAST BLUE JAYS, 21-10

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women’s lacrosse team scored a season-high 21 goals en route to a 21-10 victory over the University of Saint Joseph (CT) Saturday afternoon at Roberto Clemente Field. The Saints improve to 4-2 on the year (1-2 GNAC) and remain unbeaten at home with a 3-0 mark while the loss drops the Blue Jays to 2-4 and 1-3 in conference play.

SHARKS TOP SAINTS IN COLLEGES OF THE FENWAY SHOWDOWN

BOSTON, Mass. - Simmons College remains undefeated in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Lacrosse action after defeating Emmanuel College, 12-7 in the much-anticipated Fenway rivalry matchup. The Sharks have now won five straight games and move to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the GNAC. The Saints fall to 3-2 on the season and 0-2 in the league with the loss.
