MACHADO, PARKER HONORED AS SAINTS SWEEP TRI-MATCH

BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Women's Volleyball Team celebrated senior day with two Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) wins on Saturday afternoon. The Saints cruised to straight-set victories over visiting Albertus Magnus College and Saint Joseph College to finish the regular season at 16-13 overall and 10-2 in the GNAC. Senior captains, Lindsey Parker (New Bedford, MA) and Amanda Machado (Swansea, MA), were honored prior to the start of their last regular season home match.
Parker, who totaled 15 kills on the day, will leave Emmanuel as the program's all-time leader in kills with 1,331 to date. She also gathered 7 digs and served up 2 aces in the Saints' wins this afternoon. Machado will graduate as Emmanuel's all-time leader in digs. After collecting 13 this afternoon, she currently has a career total of 1,361 while at Emmanuel.
Freshman hitter Rebecca Stanton (Quincy, MA) and junior Nicole McAllister (Hampden, ME) each smacked down 8 kills in the wins. Junior Stephanie O'Neill (Tyngsboro, MA) provided error-free offense for the Saints, tallying 5 kills in her 7 attempts. Sophomore Megan Murray (Killingworth, CT) and junior Diana Grimaldi (Sandy Hook, CT) picked up 5 kills apiece for Emmanuel. Freshman setters Kathryne Olsen (Fairhaven, MA) and Cynthia Hernandez (South Dennis, MA) combined for 41 assists on the day.
The Saints have now earned the 4th seed in the upcoming GNAC tournament. Emmanuel will host the 5th seeded Mustangs of Mount Ida College on Tuesday night in the Jean Yawkey Center. This quarterfinal match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
