WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL FINISHES REGULAR SEASON WITH 3-0 WIN OVER NORWICH; 3-0 VICTORY OVER SUFFOLK

BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team finished the regular season on Saturday, earning a 3-0 victory over Norwich in the early match before topping Suffolk, 3-0 later in the day.
The Saints finished the regular season at 17-13 with an 8-4 record in GNAC play.
Emmanuel and Norwich opened the first set with strong play from both sides of the net as the two squads battled all the way to the finish. Eventually, the Saints would take the first set 25-23 and the second set, 25-14. The third and final set again showed the prowess of both teams on the court, but Emmanuel managed to finish off the day with a 25-20 win.
Prior to the start of the final match for Emmanuel, the Saints took some time to honor two seniors who have spent the past four years with the team. Megan Clary (Cumberland, R.I.) and Megan Murray (Killingworth, Conn.) were each recognized for their commitment to the program during their time with the Saints.
The Saints moved in front in the opening frame, grabbing a 13-7 lead with kills from Murray, junior Rebecca Stanton (Quincy, Mass.) and an ace from sophomore Samantha Andazola (Queen Creek, Arizona). Emmanuel increased its lead to 23-11 with another ace, this one by junior Kathryne Olsen (Fairhaven, Mass.), and went on to win the opening set, 25-11.
The Rams opened op the second set with a 6-3 lead, before extending it to 15-9 when the Saints used their first timeout. Emmanuel found a groove and pulled back to make the score 16-15, eventually pulling ahead, 23-20. One final kill by Stanton down the opposite line finished the second set for the Saints, 25-23.
Junior Jenna Ross (Centerburg, Ohio) helped give the Saints some energy in the third set, notching a cross-court kill to make the score 10-8. Freshman Maggie Hillman (North Andover, Mass.) helped keep Suffolk in the match, blasting kill to keep the match close. Despite the visitors' best attempts, the Saints went on to win the match, 3-0.
The Saints were led by Stanton, who notched 16 kills and two blocks. Olsen added 37 assists to the cause while sophomore Yun-Ting Lee (Cambridge, Mass.) grabbed three service aces as well.
The Rams were led by Hillman's eight digs and senior Kelly Loder's (Billerica, Mass.) two blocks. Hillman and freshman Jacqueline Dugas each tallied eight kills in the match.
Emmanuel will wait to see who it will match up against in the conference tournament, which will take place this Tuesday evening.
