SAINTS TOPPLE SHARKS IN 3-SET MATCH

BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel Women's Volleyball Team cruised to a straight-set win over Colleges of the Fenway rival, Simmons College on Wednesday night in a match played at the Jean Yawkey Center. The Saints took care of the Sharks in fifty-five minutes, winning, 25-8, 25-23, 25-18. With this win, the Saints improved to 14-13 on the season and 8-2 among Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) competition. Simmons slipped to 12-10 overall and 5-5 in the league.
For Emmanuel, freshman Rebecca Stanton (Quincy, Mass.) and senior Lindsey Parker (New Bedford, Mass.) slammed down six kills apiece to lead the Saints' offense. Freshman Jenna Ross (Centerburg, Ohio) chipped in with 4 kills, 7 services aces, and 5 digs. The Saints' defense was sparked by the play of sophomore libero Megan Clary (Cumberland, R.I.), who gathered 12 digs, and junior middle Nicole McAllister (Hampden, Maine), who recorded 4 blocks, on the night.
Emmanuel will return to action on Saturday (11/1), when the Saints host Albertus Magnus College and Saint Joseph College (CT) in a GNAC tri-match beginning at 12pm. The two seniors on the Emmanuel squad (Lindsey Parker & Amanda Machado) will be honored prior to the start of the first match.
