OWLS DOWN WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM IN STRAIGHT SETS

BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel Women's Volleyball Team fell to Keene State College on Thursday night in a non-conference match played at the Jean Yawkey Center. The Owls defeated the Saints in straight sets for the second time this season, improving to 18-8 on the season, while Emmanuel dropped to 9-11 overall.
The Owls came out strong, rolling to a 25-15 win in the opening set. Emmanuel hung tough in the second set, but Keene came away with a 25-21 win. The Owls then edged the Saints in set three, 25-23, taking a 3-0 win for the match.
Senior middle blocker Brittany O'Bryant (Merrimack, NH) led Keene State with 15 kills and 4 blocks. Rookie outside hitter Kristen Girard (Red Hook, NY) recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs, while junior setter Jordan Pokryfki (Wasilla, AK) dished out 31 assists for the visitors.
Emmanuel was led by senior outside hitter Lindsey Parker's (New Bedford, MA) 5 kills and 6 digs. Senior libero Amanda Machado (Swansea, MA) notched 17 digs, while freshman outside hitter Jenna Ross (Centerburg, OH) chipped in with 4 kills and 8 digs in the effort for the Saints.
Keene will take on Mount Holyoke on Saturday in a 12:00 p.m. start. Emmanuel will travel to Chestnut Hill for a GNAC tri-match with Mount Ida College and Pine Manor College on Saturday afternoon. The Saints' matches begin at 2:00 p.m.
