SAINTS SINK ANCHORWOMEN IN 3-0 SHUT-OUT

BOSTON, Mass. - Sophomore hitter Jenna Ross (Centerburg, Ohio) recorded double-double to lead the Saints over the visiting Anchorwomen of Rhode Island College, 3-0, in a non-conference match played at Emmanuel College. Ross slammed down 11 kills, hitting .400 on the night, and gathered 12 digs to lead the host Saints. Emmanuel has now won its seventh-straight match and is 9-4 on the season and remains undefeated in GNAC play at 4-0.
The win over Rhode Island College came easily for the Saints, as Emmanuel cruised to wins in three straight sets. The Saints defeated the visitors by an increasing margin in each of the sets, 25-21, 25-14, and 25-11.
Ross' 11 kills led the Emmanuel offense. Sophomore Rebecca Stanton (Quincy, Mass.) hit .333 with 7 kills and junior Megan Murray (Killingworth, Conn.) added 8 kills for the hosts. The Saints' defense was led by junior Megan Clary (Cumberland, R.I.) and freshman Samantha Andazola (Queen Creek, Ariz.), who tallied 15 digs apiece. Sophomore setter Kathryne Olsen (Fairhaven, Mass.) dished out a match-high 30 assists, while senior Nicole McAllister (Hampden, Maine) and Andazola combined for 4 services aces in the win.
The Saints will return to conference play on Saturday, looking to stretch their win streak to nine matches, as they take on Norwich University and Pine Manor College in a GNAC tri-match. The action is set to begin at 2:00pm in Northfield, Vt.
