SAINTS SWEEP GNAC TRI-MATCH

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Emmanuel Women's Volleyball Team stretched its win streak to six matches on Sunday, when the Saints swept a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match played on the campus of Albertus Magnus College. Emmanuel defeated both Albertus Magnus and Saint Joseph's College of Maine in straight sets. The Saints began play with a 25-21, 25-14, 25-16 win over Saint Joseph's and then capped off the afternoon with a 25-13, 25-9, 25-18 victory over the host Falcons. With the two wins, Emmanuel is now 8-4 overall and undefeated at 4-0 in GNAC play.
Sophomore hitter Rebecca Stanton (Quincy, Mass.) led the Saints in the opener with 12 kills and 3 solo blocks. Junior Megan Murray (Kilingworth, Conn.) added 9 kills and sophomore Jenna Ross (Centerburg, Ohio) tallied 10 digs and a match-high 5 services aces. Freshman Samantha Andazola (Queen Creek, Ariz.) led the Saints defense with 13 digs while sophomore setter Kathryne Olsen (Fairhaven, Mass.) dished out 28 assists.
In Emmanuel's win over Albertus Magnus, Murray and senior middle Nicole McAllister (Hampden, Maine) led the way with 6 kills apiece. McAllister also served up 4 aces and put down 2 solo blocks. Ross gathered 10 digs and smacked down 5 kills, while Olsen handed out 21 helpers in the effort.
The Saints will be play at home this Tuesday night (9/29), when Emmanuel hosts Rhode Island College. The match will begin at 7pm in the gymnasium of the Jean Yawkey Center.
