VOLLEYBALL TEAM WINS FOURTH -STRAIGHT

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- The Emmanuel Women's Volleyball Team won its fourth match in a row on Thursday night, defeating the Rams of Framingham State College on the road, 3-1. The Saints took the first two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-12 before the Rams rallied from a 10-1 deficit to win the third game 25-20. The Saints were able to regroup and capitalize on sloppy play by the Rams to take the fourth game 25-15. With the match victory Emmanuel improves to 6-4 on the season, while the loss drops the Rams to 6-9.
The Saints were led by the solid all-around play of sophomore Jenna Ross (Centerburg, Ohio), who recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 23 digs. Senior middle Nicole McAllister (Hampden, Maine) totaled 8 kills, 3 aces, and 3 solo blocks on the night. Sophomore setter Kathryne Olsen (Fairhaven, Mass.) dished out 29 assists, while Samantha Andazola (Queen Creek, Ariz.) and Megan Clary (Cumberland, R.I.) gathered 18 and 19 digs, respectively.Despite 20 kills from outside hitter Ashley Trudeau (Rockland, Mass.), the Rams fell to the visiting Saints. Trudeau and classmate Jessi Goode (Marston Mills, Mass.) led the Rams defense with 20 digs apiece. Goode also added 23 service receptions and an ace. Freshman Jackie Friel (Centerville, Mass.) chipped in four blocks and five digs, while freshman setter Meaghan Callahan (Bridgewater, Mass.) added 28 assists.
The Rams return to action on Saturday morning as they host Southern Vermont at 11 a.m. as part of Homecoming and Family Weekend, while the Saints travel to Albertus Magnus College for a GNAC tri-match with St. Joseph College on Sunday beginning at noon.
