WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS EASTERN NAZARENE, 3-0

BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team earned a strong 3-0 victory over Eastern Nazarene College on Tuesday night in Boston, Mass.
The Saints improved to 3-7 on the season while the Crusaders dropped to 2-8. The two teams got off to an even start with the squads set at 5-5 early on. Eastern Nazarene seemed to find an edge, grabbing the next three points of the match but the Saints rallied to take an 11-8 lead as the first timeout was called. Sophomore Moriah Logan (Halifax, Mass.) gave the Saints some breathing room while on serve, giving Emmanuel a 17-10 lead. The two teams would continue to trade points for the rest of the set before the Saints managed to earn a 25-15, first set victory.
Emmanuel senior Megan Clary (Cumberland, R.I.) started the second set off well for the Saints, grabbing an ace to push the score to 5-1 early on. Back-to-back kills by junior Jenna Ross (Centerburg, Ohio) gave Emmanuel a 10-4 lead before the Crusaders managed to cut the deficit to five points. The score stood at 20-9 before Clary recorded another two aces to move the Saints to within one point of a second set win. One final kill by Ross gave the Saints the final point and a 25-10 victory.
Emmanuel paced its way to a quick 10-4 lead in the third set before the first timeout of was taken. The Saints continued to play well on both sides of the ball, extending their lead to 21-13 before sophomore Samantha Andazola (Queen Creek, Ariz.) added an ace to the stat sheet. Emmanuel finished the set with a 25-13 win to seal the match.
Juniors Ross and Rebecca Stanton (Quincy, Mass.) led the Saints with nine kills each, while Andazola followed closely with six of her own. Additionally, Clary and sophomore Rachel Swiezynski (Exeter, N.H.) posted 11 assists each while Clary and each Andazola tallied three aces. Sophomore libero Yun-Ting Lee (Cambridge, Mass.) led the Saints with 21 digs on the day with Ross adding 20 of her own to help the squad.
Junior Kaitlyn Yoder (Smithsburg, Md.) led the Crusaders with four kills while sophomore Rachel Mun (Cambridge, Mass.) added nine assists to the score sheet. Senior Allison Auperlee (Quincy, Mass.) helped Eastern Nazarene on numerous fronts by leading the team with 10 digs and two aces, respectively.
Emmanuel will remain in Boston for its next match on Thursday, when the Saints will host Framingham State College at 7:00 p.m.
