Women's Volleyball Swept in Straight Sets vs. Simmons
BOSTON – The Simmons Sharks hit .370 from the floor over three sets, helping them stay unbeaten in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference following a straight sets sweep (25-15, 25-11, 25-12) of the Emmanuel Saints on Wednesday evening at the Jean Yawkey Center.

The opening set started quickly for the Sharks, claiming nine of the opening 12 points to take a 9-3 lead. Simmons continued to build on their early lead, growing their advantage to as many as nine in the middle of the set. A service ace by senior Kat Simeonidis (Lake Mary, Fla.) finished off the set, in favor of Simmons, 25-15.
In the second set, Simmons took the early edge and carried that momentum throughout the set for a 25-11 win. The Sharks hit .370 in the set with 12 kills on 27 attempts and two errors, on the way to a 25-11 win.
In the final set, the Sharks had a match-high for a set 18 kills, on their way to the straight sets win. Simmons jumped out to a double-digit lead at 12-2 and increased their lead to as high as 13 late in the play. Simmons sophomore Kate Petrosso (Attleboro, Mass.) capped off the set with the final kill in the 25-12 set win.
Senior Claire Conners (Albany, Calif.) led the match with 14 kills, hitting .519 from the floor. First-year Hannah Pridgeon (Winter Garden, Fla.) added nine kills on a .412 hitting percentage.
Saints sophomore Isabella Marquez (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) had a team-high seven kills to go with six digs. First-year Jasmine Maradiaga (Randolph, Mass.) added five kills on the night.
The Saints (15-9, 8-5 GNAC) return to play to finish the regular season with a tri-match on Nov. 4 against Mitchell and Saint Joseph's of Maine, hosted by Emmanuel, starting at 10:00 a.m. The Sharks (19-7, 13-0 GNAC) host their own tri-match on Nov. 4 with Johnson & Wales and Saint Joseph of Conn., starting at 11:00 a.m.
