SHELOW & CHRUSCIELSKI TABBED TO ALL-GNAC SQUAD
BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore outside hitter Mary Shelow (Miami, Fla.) and senior outside hitter Cassie Chruscielski (Duluth, Minn.) have been named to the 2016 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball All-Conference team, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning. Shelow makes her first appearance on the All-Conference squad earning Third Team honors while Chruscielski earns her third All-Conference accolade also earning Third Team recognition.
BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore outside hitter Mary Shelow (Miami, Fla.) and senior outside hitter Cassie Chruscielski (Duluth, Minn.) have been named to the 2016 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball All-Conference team, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning. Shelow makes her first appearance on the All-Conference squad earning Third Team honors while Chruscielski earns her third All-Conference accolade also earning Third Team recognition.
Shelow led the Saints while ranking eighth overall in the GNAC with 310 kills, averaging 2.63 kills per set. She posted a total of 71 blocks including 36 in GNAC play to rank first in the conference during league matches. The sophomore recorded 51 aces to rank seventh in the league and ended the season scoring 412 total points, fifth most in the GNAC. Shelow posted 10+ kills in 15 matches this season and was tabbed to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll on three separate occasions.
Over the past two seasons, Shelow has appeared in 61 matches and recorded 465 kills to go along with 179 digs, 102 total blocks and 62 aces.
Chruscielski earns her third GNAC All-Conference accolade during her Emmanuel career, earning First Team honors her freshman season followed by Second Team honors as a sophomore. The senior closed out her collegiate career with 296 digs and 179 kills this season and along the way became the seventh player in program history to record her 1,000th career dig.
During her four years at Emmanuel, Chruscielski racked up 1,088 career digs to rank seventh all-time and collected 932 kills, 176 aces, 66 total blocks and 64 assists.
The Saints closed out the 2016 campaign with an 11-22 overall record, posting a 6-5 mark in GNAC play.
