BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College freshman Kaitlyn Atkinson was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week on October 28, an honor she is receiving for the third time this season and for the second-consecutive week. Atkinson, a native of Brookline, New Hampshire, has used her stellar hitting and dominant blocking to lead the Saints Women's Volleyball Team to a twenty-win season.
This past week, Atkinson hit at a clip of .358 and averaged 3.50 kills per set during her three matches. The 6'3 rookie also tallied nearly a block per set (0.90), as the Saints went 2-1 over the seven-day span. Having wrapped up GNAC regular season action this past Saturday, Atkinson and the Saints have clinched the No. 2 seed in the Upcoming GNAC Tournament. Emmanuel will host the No. 7 seed in one of four GNAC quarterfinal contests to be played next Tuesday night, November 5. The match is slated to begin at 7:00 PM in the Jean Yawkey Center.
