SAINTS BREEZE PAST LYNX IN 3-0 SWEEP
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Saints rolled to a 3-0 sweep of the Lesley University Lynx in non-conference women’s volleyball action tonight at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols. The straight-set win featured the visiting Saints topping the Lynx, 25-17, 25-13, 25-21.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Saints rolled to a 3-0 sweep of the Lesley University Lynx in non-conference women's volleyball action tonight at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols. The straight-set win featured the visiting Saints topping the Lynx, 25-17, 25-13, 25-21.
The Saints, winners of four-straight matches and seven of their last eight, improve to 14-9 with the win. The Lynx drop their second consecutive match and fall to 6-10 on the year.
Freshman Cassie Chruscielski (Duluth, Minn.) led the Emmanuel attack with a match-high 14 kills, hitting an impressive .417 from the floor while classmate and GNAC Rookie of the Week Kaitlyn Atkinson (Brookline, N.H.) chipped in with eight kills to go with her match-high two blocks. Chruscielski, Christine Durkee (Salem, Conn.), and Cara Callahan (Medway, Mass.) all collected nine digs for the visitors.
Pacing Lesley was senior Katrina Stroganoff (Cedar Grove, N.J.) who logged a team-high five kills and 16 digs. Freshman Vanessa Smith (Somersworth, N.H.) finished with four kills, while sophomore Jessie Reynolds (Londonderry, N.H.) led the Lynx with three aces. Junior Danielle Johnson (Waterford, Conn.) dished out ten assists while knocking down three kills of her own.
The Saints never trailed throughout the match and held a 34-16 edge in kills while hitting .217 as a team from the floor. Sophomore Shannon Dudley (Morro Bay, Calif.) dished out 20 assists for the visitors, while freshman Sophie Fish (North Attleboro, Mass.) handed out 13 of her own.
Lesley returns to the floor on Sunday, October 13th at 12:00 PM, when they host Bay Path College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action. Emmanuel will head to Suffolk University on Saturday, October 12th for a GNAC tri-match with the Rams and Anna Maria College at 1:00 PM.
