WENHAM, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team completed a tri-match sweep of Bay Path and Gordon College Saturday afternoon, downing the two non-conference opponents by 3-0 scores on the Gordon College campus. The Saints topped Bay Pay in straight sets 25-14, 25-13, 25-9 before downing the hosts with scores of 25-14, 25-19, 25-19. With the wins, the Saints even their overall record at 6-6 while Gordon now stands at 4-5 and Bay Path is 1-7.
Against the Wildcats, sophomore middle hitter Brittany Tutalo (Johnson, R.I.) had one of the most impressive individual hitting performances in the program's history, collecting 12 kills on 12 attempts for a 1.000 hitting percentage. Sophomore outside hitter Danielle Rose (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) added nine kills while freshman outside hitter Starr Ripley (Chicopee, Mass.) chipped in with eight kills. Sophomore setter Shannon Dudley (Morro Bay, Calif.) dished out 16 assists while rookie setter Sophie Fish (North Attleboro, Mass.) added 10 helpers.
In match two against the host Scots, EC jumped out to a large 15-3 lead in the opening set and cruised to a 25-14 victory to set the tone for the match. Gordon looked much more comfortable in the second and third sets, but again found themselves on the losing end—as the visiting Saints took the final two game by identical 25-19 scores.
Emmanuel's Cassie Chruscielski (Duluth, Minn.) led the Saints' balanced attack with six kills and seven points in total. Junior libero Cara Callahan (Medway, Mass.) led the defensive effort with a match-high 24 digs to go along with a pair of service aces in the win.
For the Scots, Lauren Kranyak (Locust Grove, Va.) and Jenna Labbadia (Berlin, Conn.) each finished with seven kills apiece in game two, while Maggie Risma (Hudson, Ohio) nabbed 27 digs to pace Gordon's defensive effort.
Emmanuel returns to the court on Thursday (9/19) when they head to Framingham State University for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference match while the Scots are back in action with their conference opener against Endicott on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
