EMMANUEL RECORD-HOLDER NAMED VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
After becoming Emmanuelâs all-time leader in digs just four days ago, senior Yun-Ting Lee was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Womenâs Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. Leeâs recognition came after the senior captain recorded 27 digs to lead the Saints to a 3-2 win over Eastern Nazarene College last Thursday night. Leeâs match-high dig tally put her over the four-year career mark for digs set by Jenna Ross (â12) just last season.

Lee's match-high dig tally put her over the four-year career mark for digs set by Jenna Ross ('12) just last season.
Lee, the 2011 GNAC Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Year, currently has a career total of 1,568 digs, making her Emmanuel's all-time leader in the category for both the men's and women's volleyball programs.
Lee is a four-year player and three-year starter for the Saints. She is a native of Keelung, Taiwan, but went to high school in Cambridge, Mass., graduating from Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School in 2009.
The Saints' starting libero is averaging 4.58 digs per set in 2012, ranking her 2nd among the GNAC leaders in the category. Lee was named 3rd Team All-GNAC in 2011, but this is her first GNAC Defensive Player of the Week honor. Last week, Lee gathered 44 digs in two matches, averaging 5.50 digs per set, while setting Emmanuel's all-time program record.
Lee shared her October 1st recognition with Johnson & Wales junior libero Giselle Cram-Ortiz (Vega Alta, Puerto Rico), who was named to the All-Tournament team after leading JWU to a second place finish at the Wildcat Fall Classic and averaged 5.88 digs per set for the Wildcats.
Lee and the Saints are back in action this Wednesday night, when Emmanuel hosts Suffolk University in a GNAC rivalry, slated to begin at 7:00 PM in the Jean Yawkey Center.
