WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAM ROLLS ON

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Emmanuel Women's Tennis Team cruised to its 7th win of the season on Saturday afternoon. The Saints defeated Saint Joseph College, 9-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match played in West Hartford, Connecticut. This was Emmanuel's fourth shut-out of the season and all of the Saints; singles wins came in straight sets. Emmanuel is now 7-1 overall and undefeated at 3-0 in GNAC play.
The Saints opened play with three wins in the doubles matches. Team captain Nory Hayes (Newport, R.I.) and freshman Taylor Dey (Woodbridge, Conn.) won at first singles, 8-1. Juniors Megan Harrington (Leicester, Mass.) and Catherine Dunphy (Duxbury, Mass.) took home an 8-6 win at second doubles. Juniors Taylor Kelly (Poughkeepsie, Mass.) and Brianna Murphy (Wilbraham, Mass.) came away with an 8-4 win at third doubles.
In singles action, Dey defeated Barbara Mach, 6-1, 6-0, to remain undefeated in her collegiate career. Hayes won at 2nd singles, 6-4, 6-4, for her sixth win of the season. Harrington picked up a 6-0, 6-0 shut-out win at 3rd singles. Freshman Jenna Reid (Lincoln, R.I.) remained undefeated on the season at 7-0 with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the 4th singles slot. Dunphy defeated Gianna Gurga in 5th singles, 6-4, 6-3, while freshman Emily Resnevic (Manville, R.I.) notched a 6-2, 6-3 win at 6th singles for the Saints.
Emmanuel will face GNAC rival Emerson College on Wednesday night (9/30). This is a home match for the Saints and will be played at the Winsor School courts with a start time of 5:30pm.
