SAINTS THRASH GATORS IN GNAC TENNIS MATCH

Boston, Mass. - The Emmanuel Women's Tennis Team shut out the visiting Gators of Pine Manor College on Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match at the Winsor School. The Saints took all nine points, winning four of the six singles matches in straight sets and two by forfeit. Emmanuel also won two of the three doubles matches, 8-0, and the third by forfeit.
Three freshmen and a sophomore accounted for the Saints' four singles wins. Each of the women claimed victories in their first collegiate matches. Freshman Victoria Trull (Lowell, MA) came away with a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles. Sophomore Jenny Saint-Aubyn (Mashpee, MA) took home a 6-0, 6-0 win at second singles. Freshman Hannah Marks (Fulton, NY) won 6-0, 6-0 at third singles and freshman Erin Thornton (Worcester, MA) was victorious, 6-0, 6-0, at fourth singles.
Junior captain Nory Hayes (Newport, RI) and sophomore Catherine Dunphy (Duxbury, MA) teamed up for a 8-0 win at first doubles. Sophomore Taylor Kelly (Poughkeepsie, NY) and sophomore Brianna Murphy (Wilbraham, MA) won, 8-0, at second doubles. Kelly and Murphy went undefeated together this week, as the team also beat their Suffolk University opponents, 8-6, on Wednesday night.
With this win, Emmanuel improved to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in GNAC play. The Saints will host Becker College in a non-conference match on Tuesday night (9/23) at 6:30pm.
