WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAM WINS SEASON OPENER

Milton, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Women's Tennis Team took home a 7-2 victory over Curry College on Thursday night in Milton, MA. This was the season opener for the Saints, after Tuesday's match with Rhode Island College was rained out. Emmanuel defeated Curry in all three doubles matches to start off the competition, and followed up with four wins in singles play.
With doubles play kicking off the match, junior captain Nory Hayes (Newport, RI) and sophomore Catherine Dunphy (Duxbury, MA) defeated their opponents, 8-5. Junior Caitrin Dunn (Toms River, NJ) and senior captain Rachel Strauss (Westwood, MA) won at second doubles, 8-4, while sophomore Alexandra Shakra (Bedford, NH) and sophomore Megan Harrington (Leicester, MA) were victorious at third doubles, 8-1
The Saints' singles wins came at the three, four, five, and six slots. Harrington won at third singles, 6-2, 4-6, 10-7. Shakra won at fourth singles, 6-3, 6-3, while Dunn and Dunphy both won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-1, at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
The Saints will play their home opener this Saturday afternoon vs. the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University at 1pm. All Emmanuel home matches are played at the Winsor School.
