EMMANUEL BLANKS ALBERTUS IN GNAC WOMEN’S TENNIS, 9-0
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Emmanuel Women’s Tennis Team stretched its win streak to four matches on Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 shutout of Albertus Magnus College. The Saints cruised to straight-set wins in every singles match and allowed the Falcons to win just two games in both singles and doubles play combined over the entire day. With the victory, Emmanuel remains unbeaten in conference play at 2-0 and improves its overall record to 5-3. Albertus Magnus drops to 1-4 on the season with the loss.

The Saints cruised to straight-set wins in every singles match and allowed the Falcons to win just two games in both singles and doubles play combined over the entire day. In doubles' play, Emmanuel's Amanda Woznicki (Bristol, Conn.) and Jenny Konecnik (Sparta, N.J.) defeated Na'Tasha Mesidor and Sandybell Anorga 8-0 in the No. 1 position. Senior Christine Cuddemi (Saugus, Mass.) and freshman Katrina Gaddis (Wayland, Mass.) downed Albertus' Sharinna Luna and Bianca Agron in second doubles, 8-0. Junior Brittany Rothstein (Tiverton, R.I.) and freshman Rachel Smith (Weymouth, Mass.) defeated Albertus' Renita Moore and Meteka Joseph by a score of 8-1 in third doubles.
Albertus' Chantal Simmons stole a point at No. 5 singles, but the rest of the Saints shutout the Falcons in pairs of 6-0 sets in singles' competition. Woznicki, Jenna Reid (Lincoln, R.I.) and Konecnik won at No. 1, 2 and 3, respectively. Freshmen Daniella Tueme (South Easton, Mass.), Nicole Soucy (Bedford, N.H.) and Smith were the Saints' winners in the 4th, 5th and 6th positions.
Emmanuel will look to continue its winning streak, when the Saints host the Mustangs of Mount Ida College in a GNAC match on Monday, beginning at 6:30pm at the Winsor School.
