TENNIS TEAM TAKES GNAC OPENER, 8-1
CAMBRDIGE, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Women’s Tennis Team opened up Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play with a solid 8-1 win over the host Suffolk University Rams. The win on the indoor courts at Buckingham Browne and Nichols School moved the Saints to .500 on the season at 3-3 overall. The loss dropped Suffolk to 1-3 on the season and 0-2 in GNAC play.

The win on the indoor courts at Buckingham Browne and Nichols School moved the Saints to .500 on the season at 3-3 overall. The loss dropped Suffolk to 1-3 on the season and 0-2 in GNAC play.
The Saints swept all three doubles matches and took five of six singles games. Sophomore Alex Hadlock (Framingham, Mass.) was a multiple winner on the afternoon for the Saints as she was one of four Emmanuel College players to garner victories in both singles and doubles competition. Hadlock, who moved to 4-1 on the season, was the victor in the top singles match, as she defeated senior Kelly Conrad (Lanstuhl, Germany) 6-2, 6-1. Hadlock earlier partnered with junior Amanda Woznicki (Bristol, Conn.) for an 8-5 win in the top doubles contest.
Woznicki won the number two singles game with a 6-0, 6-1 showing over sophomore Erica LeBlanc (Londonderry, N.H.). Senior Jenna Reid (Lincoln, R.I.) was a 6-3, 6-1 victor in the third singles match and she and her partner, sophomore Jenni Hewes (Cape Elizabeth, Me.) were 8-6 winners in the second doubles contest.
Junior Jenny Konecnik (Sparta, N.J.) collected her team-leading fifth win of the season with a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the number four position. Konecnik and freshman Katrina Gaddis (Wayland, Mass.) were 8-5 winners in the third doubles slot.
Freshman Daniela Tueme (South Easton, Mass.) rounded out the Saints victories on the day, as she posted 6-0, 6-1 set wins in the sixth singles game.
Senior Allison Weisenbach (Hamden, Conn.) was the lone Suffolk player to earn a victory on Saturday, as she posted an 8-4 pro set win in the number five singles game over Hewes.
Suffolk will be back in action on Monday afternoon as they travel to Gordon College in a rescheduled match beginning at 4:00pm. Emmanuel will host the University of St. Joseph (CT) on Wednesday evening at 6:30pm at the Winsor School.
