HADLOCK EARNS SINGLES WIN AS SAINTS FALL TO GULLS, 8-1
BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Women’s Tennis Team suffered an 8-1 defeat at the hands of the visiting Gulls of Endicott College on Thursday night. The non-conference match, which took place under the lights at the Winsor School, featured Endicott surging out to three doubles victories, before taking five of the six singles points.

Endicott's Chrissy Martel (Westbrook, Conn.) and Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Me.) opened up the evening with an 8-5 win over Alex Hadlock (Framingham, Mass.) and Amanda Woznicki (Bristol, Conn.) in the top doubles position. Emilie Cloutier (Lewiston, Me.) and Gina Piniciaro (Beverly, Mass.) took care of Emmanuel's Jenny Konecnik (Sparta, N.J.) and Jenna Reid (Lincoln, R.I.) on court two, 8-5. Rachel Fenstermaker (Somerset, Mass.) and Sarah Hill (Topsham, Me.) gave the Gulls an 8-2 win over Emmanuel's Jenni Hewes (Cape Elizabeth, Me.) and Alex Jennings (Granby, Conn.).
Holding a 3-0 lead in the match, the Gulls then poured in five more singles points, to come away with the 8-1 win. Emmanuel's lone win of the night came in the top singles position, when Hadlock won a convincing two-set decision over Martel, 6-1, 6-0.
Cloutier defeated Woznicki, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 2 slot. Egbert edged out Reid, 7-5, 6-0, at No. 3. Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) topped Konecnik, 6-2, 6-1, in the 4th position. Annie Gluskin (Duxbury, Mass.) earned a 6-3, 6-2 win over Hewes at No. 5 and Emily McDonough (West Hartford, Conn.) beat Emmanuel freshman Daniela Tueme, 6-0, 6-3, on court six.
Emmanuel now stands at 1-1 on the season, while Endicott improves to 2-1 overall. The Gulls will play in their home and conference opening match on Saturday, when they host Western New England University. Emmanuel will travel to UMass Dartmouth for a non-conference match with the Corsairs, beginning at 1:00PM.
