Softball Cruises Past Dean to Make 14 Straight Wins
The Emmanuel College softball team topped both ends of Saturday’s Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader against Dean College to extend its winning streak to a program-record 14 games and remain unbeaten in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. The Saints won by scores of 11-1 and 10-0.

FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Emmanuel College softball team topped both ends of Saturday's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader against Dean College to extend its winning streak to a program-record 14 games and remain unbeaten in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. The Saints won by scores of 11-1 and 10-0.
GAME ONE – Emmanuel 11, Dean 1
The visitors scored three times in their first at-bat and never looked back. Maegan Amsler (Hanover, Mass.) and Emily Blanchard (Sturbridge, Mass.) had RBI singles in the frame.
Dean got a run back in the bottom of the first when first-year Sari Albury (Nassau, Bahamas) doubled in sophomore Alex Marie (Danvers, Mass.).
The Saints added a run in the second and two in the third to take a 6-1 lead.
In the fourth, Emmanuel sophomore Tianna Dawe (Lynn, Mass.) hit a two-run homerun to put the game out of reach.
The Saints added two more in the fifth for the final of 11-1.
Five different Saints recorded two hits, while Kiana Hinson (Whittier, Calif.) led all players with three.
Megan Long (Greenville, R.I.) went the distance to earn the win on the mound with 12 strikeouts, improving to 8-1 on the year.
GAME TWO – Emmanuel 10, Dean 0
Emmanuel jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first thanks to Tianna Dawe's second two-run homer of the afternoon.
The Saints added single runs in the second and fourth, sandwiched around a 5-run third. Dawe recorded her second homerun of the game and third of the day with a solo shot in the fourth. She finished game two 3-for-3 with four RBI and three runs.
Albury had another hit for Dean and added a scoreless inning of relief. Madison Mayo (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Jaylee Martinez (Pawtucket, R.I.) were also in the hit column.
Dawe tossed three shutout innings with seven strikeouts for Emmanuel to earn the win and move to 7-2 on the year. Grace Orcutt (Lexington, Mass.) closed the game throwing two scorless innings, allowing one hit while striking out three.
UP NEXT
Emmanuel is scheduled to host Anna Maria College tomorrow (Sunday, April 25) at 12:00 and 2:00 PM for another GNAC twinbill at Roberto Clemente Field.
Dean is idle until May 1 when they play host to University of Saint Joseph (CT) at 1:00 and 3:00 PM.
