Long and Conti Sweep GNAC Weekly Honors
BOSTON, Mass. – Softball senior Megan Long (Greenville, R.I.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher of the Week while first year Olivia Conti (Cranston, R.I.) has been named the GNAC Player and Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Long notched a 2-0 record for Emmanuel, hurling the program's first-ever perfect game in an 8-0 win over Anna Maria that included seven strikeouts over five dominant innings. The senior followed it up with a complete game victory over Johnson & Wales, allowing just two earned runs on four hits while striking out six. She held opponents to a .100 batting average (4-for-40) to improve to 7-1 on the year for EC.
On the year, Long has compiled a 7-1 record including seven consecutive victories with a league low 1.58 ERA among pitchers with 15+ innings of work. She also leads the GNAC in strikeouts with 63 as well as complete games with eight.
Over her collegiate career, the Rhode Island native has tossed 86+ innings and combined for a 9-3 record with a 2.75 ERA and 78 strikeouts.
Conti hit .692 (9-for-13) with a 1.981 OPS to power Emmanuel to a 4-0 record in GNAC play, including a doubleheader home sweep of JWU on Sunday (9-3, 13-3). She scored at least once and hit safely in all four contests, while scoring twice or more three times and recording multi-hit games in three of the four. The shortstop got the week off to a strong start with a 4-for-4 performance in Emmanuel's 8-0 win over Anna Maria, launching a home run in the first that proved to be enough in a perfect-game victory by. She followed it up with a second home run in the game two victory over the AMCats, adding two more RBI and runs scored. Overall, the first year had eight runs scored, six RBI, three walks and two stolen bases in the big 4-0 week.
On the year, Conti leads the Saints while ranking third in the GNAC with 22 total hits to help with her team-high .415 batting average. The shortstop is tied for second in the conference in home runs (3) and runs scored (18), ranks seventh in slugging percentage (.679) and is tied for ninth in RBI with 11.
The Saints are currently 13-3 on the season and 6-0 in GNAC play. They are currently in the midst of a program-best 12-game winning streak and return to action this Saturday, April 24 when they head to Dean College for a GNAC twinbill slated to start at 12:00 PM.
