GENERIS, MCKENELLEY & O'KANE EARN ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS; CAMPAGNA NAMED GNAC COACH OF THE YEAR

WINTHROP, Mass. – Junior Kayla Generis (Wethersfield, Conn.) and sophomores Katherine O'Kane (Hanson, Mass.) and Abba McKenelley (Middleton, Mass.) have been selected to the 2017 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference team, it was announced by the conference office on Monday morning. The honor marks the first of each player's career as McKenelley earns First Team honors while Generis and O'Kane received Second Team nods. Co-Head Coach Dan Campagna was also named the GNAC Coach of the Year in his first season with the squad while senior defender Emily David (Uniondale, N.Y.) represented Emmanuel on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship team.

McKenelley earns First Team honors following an impressive campaign in the midfield. The sophomore played in and started 19 games for the Saints and finished the season with 16 points on seven goals and two assists. The Middleton, Mass. native shared the team-lead in goals and helped the Saints post a 6-0 record in games that she scored in highlighted by a dramatic 2-1 overtime victory over Saint Joseph's (ME) in which McKenelley netted both goals including the game-winner just 1:23 into the first overtime. All 16 points registered by the midfielder came in GNAC action.

Over two seasons, McKenelley has now appeared in 36 contests and recorded 18 points on eight goals and two assists.

Generis makes her first appearance on the GNAC All-Conference team following a break out junior campaign that saw her register career highs in points (20), goals (7) and assists (6). Generis ranked first on the team and 13^th overall in the conference in points while ranking tied for sixth in the GNAC in assists. Emmanuel played some of its best soccer when Generis contributed, going 6-0-1 in games that the Connecticut native recorded at least one point. 19 of her 20 points came in GNAC play and the junior was the only player on the team to record multiple two-goal games, scoring twice against Anna Maria on Sept. 9 and twice against Albertus Magnus on Sept. 26.

Through three seasons, Generis has played in 62 matches and earned a total of 51 starts. The forward now has 41 points on 16 goals and nine assists.

O'Kane also makes her first appearance on the GNAC All-Conference squad with a strong sophomore season in the Saints defensive unit. The center-back helped Emmanuel combine for a 1.68 goals against average while registering four total shutouts. O'Kane started the year as an outside back but transitioned into the center of the pitch following a slow 0-4 start for the team. After the move, the Saints posted an 11-2-1 record over the next six weeks and held opponents to one or fewer goals in 12 of the 14 matches during that stretch.

Following two seasons of play, O'Kane has now appeared in 38 contests and earned 21 starts.

Campagna earns GNAC Coach of the Year honors after taking over the squad with Co-Head Coach Keith Rogers just before the start of the 2017 campaign. In their first season as a Head Coaches, Campagna and Rogers helped lead the Saints to 11 wins and an 8-2-1 record in GNAC play to earn the No. 3 seed for the 2017 GNAC tournament after the program was tabbed to finish No. 6 in the pre-season coaches' poll. The duo co-managed a roster of 33 players and were responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program during the season while Campagna also served as Emmanuel's Assistant Athletic Director, Director of Athletic Communications, Sports Information and Compliance.

Prior to coaching at Emmanuel, Campagna served as an Assistant Coach for eight seasons at UMass Boston. He helped guide the Beacons to seven Little East Conference tournament berths, three LEC Regular Season titles, three appearances in the LEC tournament finals including a 2012 championship and NCAA tournament berth, three ECAC tournament appearances and an overall record of 95-56-18 (.615). He had the primary responsibility of working with the UMB goalkeepers, helping the squad post a 1.64 goal against average over the eight seasons, including a league-low 0.67 GAA in 2010 and 0.93 GAA in 2012.

The Saints wrapped up the 2017 campaign with an overall record of 11-8-1 that included an 8-2-1 mark in GNAC play. During the season, EC reeled off a six-game winning streak which was the program's longest streak since the 2009 campaign. Emmanuel earned the right to host a GNAC tournament game but fell to Simmons College in the Quarterfinal round, 2-0, to end the year.
