Garvey kicked off her scoring spree in just the fourth minute of the contest, scoring off an assist from senior midfielder Brittany Ridge (Portland, Me.) and quickly putting the Saints on top, 1-0. Another Garvey marker, the junior forward's seventh goal of the season, came in the 20th minute of play. Classmate Darcey Sullivan (Dalton, Mass.) took a corner kick from the left side, which was beautifully headed in by Garvey and the Saints led, 2-0.
Garvey would complete the hat trick just five minutes later. Freshman midfielder Katelyn Fink (Sanford, Me.) came off the bench and launched a long throw-in into the box from the left sideline. Garvey calmly played it past Emerson's sophomore keeper Allie Altman (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) and Emmanuel held a 3-0 advantage twenty-five minutes in the contest.
The Saints entered halftime up 3-0 and holding a 10-3 lead in total shots. The hosts tacked on another goal midway through the second half. A scramble in front of the Emerson goal led to a touch by Garvey before senior forward Meghan Zerba (Cumberland, R.I.) found the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season and the Saints led, 4-0.
A foul called on the Lions in the box with twelve minutes remaining, led to a penalty kick by the Saints. Freshman forward Amanda Roberts (Hudson, N.H.) placed the ball into the upper left of the Emerson goal just out of reach of Emerson's junior goalie Marissa MacDonald (Winchester, Mass.), who relieved Altman in net for the second half.
The Saints added one more to their total with just under two minutes to play. Senior forward Jackie Murray (Saugus, Mass.) netted her first career goal on a left-footed shot just out of reach of a diving MacDonald, giving the Saints the 6-0 win.
The Saints held the Lions scoreless throughout and led in total shots, 23-6 and corner kick opportunities, 8-1.
Senior goalkeeper Jessica D'Ottavio (Pawling, N.Y.) rolled to her 7th win and 4th shutout of the season, making 2 saves in 90 minutes
Altman took the loss for the Lions, but made 5 saves in her first half of action. MacDonald made 4 stops and allowed 3 goals in the second frame.
The Saints will take to the field again this Monday night, when they host Curry College in non-conference action under the lights on Clemente Field at 7:00 PM. The Lions will also play on Columbus Day, as the travel to Rivier University for a 1:00 PM kick off with the Raiders.
