Student-Athlete of the Week
April 21, 2011
This week's Emmanuel College Student-Athlete of the Week is sophomore Madeline Leahy from Cohasset, Mass.
Leahy was recently named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll for her stand-out play on the lacrosse field last week for the Saints. It is the second time this year that a member of the team has been given this distinction, after junior Logan Carr (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) became the first player in team history to be recognized on the Honor Roll.
Leahy led the Saints with six goals in the team's 14-7 win over Pine Manor College on Saturday afternoon. The sophomore tri-captain notched eight goals and two assists for 10 points on the week, while leading the team with 14 shots on goal and 15 draw controls. She also registered six ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Currently, Leahy is second on the team with 21 goals and 24 points on the year. She has played in and started all 10 games for the Saints, while registering 36 shots on goal and scoring 49% of the time. She has also tallied 31 draw controls, 21 ground balls and seven caused turnovers as well as a free-position goal this season.
Emmanuel has two remaining regular season home games left in the program's inaugural season. The Saints will travel to play Lasell College on April 21st at 4:00 p.m.
