SIX GOALS FOR LEAHY LIFTS WOMEN'S LACROSSE TO 14-7 WIN OVER PINE MANOR

Chestnut Hill, MA - Emmanuel scored nine unanswered goals in the first half to get out to a 10-1 halftime lead en route to 14-7 victory over Pine Manor College on Saturday at Hedley Field in Chestnut Hill, MA. The Gators opened the second half with three unanswered goals but Emmanuel's lead proved to be just too big for Pine Manor.
Emmanuel sophomore Madeline Leahy (Cohasset, MA/Cohasset) opened the scoring just 33 seconds after the first draw, scoring her first of a game-high six goals on the afternoon. PMC's Beth Deegan (Philadelphia, PA/Little Flower Catholic School for Girls) responded under a minute later to tie the score at 1-1, but Emmanuel would respond quickly and often to put the game out of reach.
The Saints went on to score nine unanswered goals, including four more from Leahy, as they entered the half with a commanding 10-1 lead. Emmanuel senior Kristina Marik (Airmont, NY/Albertus Magnus) scored five goals while also assisting on two of Leahy's tallies for the Saints. Marik would finish the afternoon with five goals for the Saints.
The Gators opened the second-half with a 3-0 run engineered by Deegan and junior Molly Manley (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia). Deegan scored just 13 seconds into the half before assisting on Manley's first goal of the season at the season at the 7:50 mark of the second. Deegan would then score again just under two minutes later, cutting the deficit to six.
The Gators would get no closer than five, when sophomore Alie Johnston's (Winnipeg, MB,Canada/River East Collegiate) free position goal with 4:52 reamaining would make the score 6-12, eventually dropping the 14-7 decision.
Emmanuel freshman keeper Hillary Dandurant made six saves in goal for the Saints while Colleen Tenzca (South Meriden, CT/Platt) made 10 saves between the pipes for Pine Manor, who fell to 0-3 on the season with the loss. Emmanuel improved to 3-7 with the win.
The Saints will play at Lasell College this Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
