CARR NETS 5 TO LEAD EMMANUEL OVER ST. JOSEPH

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Emmanuel College senior Logan Carr (Saratoga, Springs, N.Y.) netted five goals to lead the Saints over Saint Joseph College, 21-8, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon. With the win, Emmanuel improves to 2-3 on the season and 1-2 in the league. Saint Joseph remains winless in four games, two in the conference.
Emmanuel scored the first six goals of the contest, kicking things off with three-straight from junior midfielder Madeline Leahy (Cohasset, Mass.). The Saints held a 6-0 lead after just thirteen minutes played.
The Blue Jays then had their most successful stretch of the game, and perhaps the season, when they scored five of the next seven goals. Rachel Foster (Newington, Conn.) and Dayna Gambino (Newington, Conn.) each had two goals in the run and Saint Joseph cut its deficit to 8-5 on a score from Erika Leitao with 3:47 left in the first half.
Emmanuel scored the final two goals of the half with markers from Jessica Lucas (Stoneham, Mass.) and Alexia Basile (West Hartford, Conn.), who was playing in her hometown. The Saints held a 10-5 lead at the break.
A pair of goals from Carr opened the half and the Saints kept rolling with six more to build their lead to 18-5. A final goal from Carr came with four seconds remaining in the contest and Emmanuel pulled away with the 21-8 win.
Carr's five goals led all scorers. Leahy finished with 4 goals for the Saints. Basile brought her season total to 11 goals with 4 in the win over the Blue Jays. Freshman midfielder Shannen Corrigan (Southington, Conn.) netted her first 3 goals of the season in the win. Freshman attacker Marykate McNulty (Madison, Conn.) also tallied 3 goals, while Lucas and Madison Altwies (Southington, Conn.) each scored once for the Saints.
Rachel Foster (Newington, Conn.) scored three goals for Saint Joseph. Diana Soucier (Avon, Conn.) recorded two goals and two assists in the effort.
Emmanuel's sophomore goalie Hillary Dandurant (Merrimack, N.H.) earned the win in net for the Saints, making 10 saves in her 60-minute effort. Saint Joseph hosts Mount Ida College on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Emmanuel will host GNAC rival Lasell College on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
