Gates Tabbed as GNAC Rookie of the Week
BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College first year Emily Gates (Waterford, Conn.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse Rookie of the Week, it was announced today by the conference office. This marks the fourth time this season an EC Saint has earned the honor as Ella Marschitz (Naperville, Ill.) was tabbed the top weekly rookie on three separate occasions earlier in the campaign.

Gates recorded a game and season-high nine points in Emmanuel's 21-4 victory over Anna Maria on five goals and four assists. The first year was 2-for-2 on free-position shots, led the Saints with eight draw control wins and added three groundballs and two caused turnovers in the home victory.
In 15 games, the Waterford, Conn. has recorded 38 points on 28 goals and 10 assists to rank fifth on the team in points and goals and tied for sixth in assists. She also has won 44 draws to rank third on the team and 23rd overall in the GNAC.
The Saints are current 12-4 on the year and return to action on Wednesday, April 26 in their regular-season finales on the road vs. Lasell University at 5:00 PM in Newton, Mass. EC has already locked in the No. 4 seed in the 2023 GNAC Tournament and will host No. 5 Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday, April 29 in the GNAC Quarterfinals at Roberto Clemente Field.
