Brown Named GNAC Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Year; Franca & Srimouksavanh Honored
BOSTON, Mass. – First year defender Delaney Brown (Agawam, Mass.) has been named the 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Defender of the Year, it was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Brown also earns a spot on the GNAC All-Conference First Team and All-Rookie team. Joining Brown on the GNAC All-Conference First Team is senior attacker Chandra Franca (Woburn, Mass.) while fellow first year Deja Srimouksavanh (Portsmouth, N.H.) earns Third Team honors as well as a spot on the All-Rookie squad. Senior Katelyn Hunter (South Windsor, Conn.) represented the Saints on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship team.

Brown enjoyed a strong start to her collegiate career by playing in 17 games, starting 16 in the Emmanuel defensive unit. The Agawam, Mass. native served as the Saints top defender all season, locking down opposing teams' number one scoring threats and helping the EC defense post a 9.11 goals against average in conference action. Brown led the Emmanuel with 46 groundballs and ranked tied for fifth in the GNAC in caused turnovers with 33. She also added six points on two goals and four assists while winning 14 draws throughout the campaign.
Franca closes out her collegiate career with a First Team All-Conference nod following one of the most impressive offensive campaign in EC program history, finishing the season with 77 points on 64 goals and 13 assists. Franca ranked fifth in the GNAC in goals and sixth overall in points while her 64 goals was the second-most in program history at Emmanuel. The senior collected at least one point in 17 of 18 contests and scored multiple goals in 15 games including back-to-back seven goal performances in GNAC wins over USJ and Dean.
Over her career, Franca accumulated 147 points to rank fifth in program history. Her 121 goals are tied for third all-time and she ranks first in program history with 45 goals coming on free-position shots. Franca also ranks in the top-10 in caused turnovers, groundballs and draw controls.
Srimoukasavanh earns Third Team and All-Rookie honors following a strong debut season in the EC midfield in which she accumulated 41 points on 27 goals and 14 assists. After a slow start, the New Hampshire native recorded at least one point in 15 of the final 16 games including nine games with three or more points. The Saints went 6-1 in games where she scored at least two goals and she also played a key role in EC's restart game winning 50 draw controls and recording 43 groundballs on the year.
Emmanuel wrapped up the 2022 campaign with an overall record of 10-8, posting a 9-4 mark in GNAC action to earn the No. 5 seed in the GNAC tournament. The Saints enjoyed an 11-7 victory over No. 4 Norwich University in the GNAC Quarterfinals before bowing out of the field to the eventual GNAC Champions in undefeated Saint Joseph's College (ME), 12-7, in the Semifinal round.
