MUSTANGS CHARGE PAST SAINTS, 16-4
BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore middie Alyssa Kelly (Lee, Mass.) recorded nine points on six goals and three assists to power Mount Ida College past host Emmanuel College, 16-4, Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Roberto Clemente Field. During the action Kelly netted her 100th career goal to lift the Mustangs to a 9-1 record on the year and improve to 2-0 in GNAC play while the loss dips the Saints to 2-6 and 1-2 in the GNAC.

Mount Ida never trailed, jumping out to an early 2-0 lead behind goals from Kelly and sophomore Brooke Scahill (Ledyard, Conn.). Emmanuel's Stephanie Warn (Hanson, Mass.) got the hosts on the board with her ninth goal of the year to cut the lead to 2-1 with 17:33 to play but the Mustangs rattled off three straight goals to take control of the game with a 5-1 lead.
EC freshman Kyle Rice (Bethlehem, Conn.) found the back of the net for the third time this season to cut the lead to 5-2 but Kelly and senior middie Nicole Pavao (Peabody, Mass.) answered with two quick scores to make it 7-2. Emmanuel senior Emily Baker (Stratham, N.H.) scored with 1:44 remaining in the half to cut the lead 7-3. The score was also Baker's 100th career goal for the Saints. Kelly capped the half's scoring with her 46th goal of the year to account for an 8-3 score at the break.
The Mustangs outshot the Saints 18-12 in the period.
Mount Ida continued to dominate play to open the second half scoring four goals to open the stanza to pull away to a 12-3 score. Warn broke the run with her second goal of the game for Emmanuel to make it 12-4 before the Mustangs scored the game's final four goals including three in row from junior Hayley Napier (Fairhaven, Mass.) en route to the 16-4 final.
Kelly finished the game with six goals, Napier with four, Scahill three and junior middie Emily McConnell two goals.
Ida freshman goalie Jessica Henry (Wilbraham, Mass.) made 15 saves in the win while EC keeper Bethany Bonilla-Colon made 10 saves in defeat.
Both teams return to action against Rivier University as the Mustangs travel to Nashua, N.H. on Monday, April 10 for a 6:00 PM contest while Emmanuel hosts the Raiders on Wednesday, April 12 at Roberto Clemente Field at 7:00 PM.
