REGIS CLAWS PAST EMMANUEL WOMEN’S LACROSSE, 10-6

BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman attack Kerri Anselmo (Natick, Mass.) registered five points on four goals and one assist to power Regis College to a 10-6 victory over Emmanuel College Tuesday evening in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Roberto Clemente Field. The Pride stay perfect with the victory and improve to 5-0 on the year while the Saints are still in search of their first win, falling to 0-4 overall.

Regis jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, scoring three goals in the first six minutes of play to take control of the action early. Sophomore Mackenzie Cattaruzza (Guilford, Conn.) opened the scoring before freshman middie Brooke Ross (Hanover, Mass.) scored back-to-back markers including a man-up tally to account for the 3-0 cushion.

EC senior Savannah Lundwall (Fiskdale, Mass.) got the hosts on the board with her four goal of the year with 20 minute remaining in the first half to cut the lead to 3-1 before Anselmo answered with her first marker of the game to extend the advantage to 4-1.

The Saints rattled off three straight goals to even the score at 4-4 with 11:30 to play in the half on scores by senior Amanda Cook (Saco, Maine) and two more goals by Lundwall. The Pride regrouped and closed the half strong scoring three goals over the final seven minutes to take a 7-4 lead into the break. Anselmo netted two of the three scores including a devastating man-down goal with 40 seconds left in the half to make it a three-goal game.

Emmanuel received a huge blow to open the second half as Lundwall received her second yellow card of the evening to end her night early. The Pride took advantage of her absence with Anselmo's fourth goal of the game to make it 8-4 just 19 seconds into the period.

Over the final 20 minutes the squads traded goals with Emmanuel scores coming from junior Avery Yang (Lincoln, R.I.) and freshman Kylie Rice (Bethlehem, Conn.). Rice's marker was the first of her college career but it was not enough as Regis held on for the 10-6 road win.

Junior goalie Maresa Malcolm (Barringotn, N.J.) made seven saves for the Pride to improve to 4-0 in between the pipes while EC sophomore Bethany Bonilla-Colon (Milton, Mass.) made 10 saves for the Saints.

Emmanuel returns to action on Saturday, March 25 when they head to Newton, Mass. to take on Lasell College at 12:00 PM in the Saints 2017 GNAC opener. Regis also opens conference play on Saturday, hosting Mitchell College at 12:00 PM in NECC play.
