HIGGINS & WHITE EARN GNAC WEEKLY HONORS
BOSTON, Mass. – Senior middie Sarah Higgins (Groveland, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week and senior goalie Lauren White (Lynnfield, Mass.) has been named the GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week, it was announced by the conference office earlier this afternoon.
BOSTON, Mass. – Senior middie Sarah Higgins (Groveland, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week and senior goalie Lauren White (Lynnfield, Mass.) has been named the GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week, it was announced by the conference office earlier this afternoon.
Higgins earns GNAC Player of the Week honors after appearing twice this season on the Weekly Honor Roll. The senior exploded for 17 points over two games last week, scoring eight goals while assisting on nine to help Emmanuel to a pair of 19-0 wins. The Groveland, Mass. native posted eight points with four goals and four assists against Albertus Magnus, also recording nine draw controls in the win. She followed it up with nine points against Univ. of Saint Joseph (CT) with four goals, five assists, nine draw controls and seven groundballs.
On the season, Higgins leads the Saints in points (33), assists (14), draw controls (40), groundballs (31), caused turnovers (20) and second in goals (19).
White earns GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors for the second consecutive week and 10th time in her career posting back-to-back shutout victories. The senior made four saves in the win over Albertus Magnus to post the program's first-ever shutout on March 29 and then posted the program's second shutout just four days later making one save in the win over USJ.
White has played every minute in goal this year for the Saints, posting four wins and 40 total saves. She currently ranks third in the GNAC with an 8.83 goals against average.
The Saints return to action tomorrow evening when they play host to Lasell College in GNAC play at Roberto Clemente Field at 7:00 PM.
