SAINTS SHUTOUT FALCONS IN 19-0 ROMP
BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women’s lacrosse team cruised to a 19-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory over Albertus Magnus College Tuesday evening at Roberto Clemente Field. The Saints held the Falcons scoreless to record the first shutout in the program’s six year history and improve to 3-2 on the year and 1-0 in the GNAC. The loss drops Albertus Magnus to 0-4 and 0-1.

Emmanuel set the tone early, scoring just seven seconds into the contest on a tally by junior attack Emily Baker (Stratham, N.H.). Senior middie Sarah Higgins (Groveland, Mass.) made it 2-0 just 19 seconds later. Senior middie Kristen Tuleja (Mansfield, Mass.) got into the mix with a marker with 28:39 to play in the half to make it 3-0 before junior attack Amanda Cook (Saco, Maine) made it 4-0 only 15 seconds later.
Junior middie Savannah Lundwall (Fiskdale, Mass.) found the back of the net to make it 5-0 before Baker got her second of the game to increase the lead to 6-0 with 24:31 to play. Higgins wasted little time to follow suit with her second of the action to bump the lead to 7-0, scoring 26 after.
Emmanuel's eighth, ninth and 10th scores were all the first of the season for each of the scorers as junior attack Haley Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.), sophomore defender Sophia White (Monterey, Calif.) and freshman Rachael Downey (Holliston, Mass.) all registered scores to make it 10-0.
Tuleja, junior middie Abaigeal Merrigan (Rye, N.H.) and Higgins rounded out the first half scoring as the Saints took a commanding 13-0 lead into halftime. EC owned an 18-1 overall shots advantage and 12-2 draw control margin at the break.
The Falcons were able to slow the action down in the second stanza, holding the Saints scorless for the first 5:29 of the half before Baker made it 14-0 with her third goal of the night. White scored her second goal of the game with 18:34 to play to bump the lead to 15-0 and then the Albertus defense picked things up, holding Emmanuel scoreless for over 13 minutes.
Merrigan broke the scoreless drought with her fourth goal of the year to make it 16-0. Downey, Higgins and Tuleja would all add another goal over the final four minutes of action to account for the 19-0 final.
Emmanuel senior goalie Lauren White (Lynnfield, Mass.) notched the shutout victory making four saves in net. Albertus freshman keeper Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) made eight saves for the Falcons. Fenn also recorded a game-high nine groundballs.
The Saints return to action on Saturday, April 2 when they travel to West Hartford, Conn. to take on University of Saint Joseph (CT) in another GNAC battle scheduled for a 1:00 PM start. The Falcons the same day when they play host to Saint Joseph's College (ME) at 12:00 PM.
