WOMEN’S LACROSSE OPENS SEASON WITH 14-8 WIN OVER CURRY
BRADENTON, Fla. – The Emmanuel College Women’s Lacrosse Team opened the 2015 season with a 14-8 win over Curry College. The Saints took on the Colonels down in Bradenton, Florida in the Sticks Up Lacrosse “19th Annual Spring Fling.” The Saints, picked atop the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) preseason coaches’ poll, now stand at 1-0 on the season. Curry, picked to finish 6th in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), drop to 1-1 on the young season.

This was the first-ever meeting between the Emmanuel and Curry women's lacrosse programs. The Saints held a 7-3 lead after the first half and managed to outscore the Colonels, 7-5, in the second to take the 14-8 win.
Senior captain Madison Altwies (Southington, Conn.) and sophomore Abaigeal Merrigan (Rye, N.H.) led the Saints' attack, each recording a hat-trick in the win. Altwies also notched a trio of groundballs, while Merrigan dished out an assist in the win.
With a pair of goals in the first game of the 2015 campaign, junior Kristen Tuleja (Mansfield, Mass.) stretches her streak of multi-goal games, which spans three seasons, to 24-consecutive multiple goal outings.
Sophomore attack Amanda Cook (Saco, Me.) also netted two goals for the Saints. Senior captain Sarah Wootten (Berlin, Md.) scored a goal and dished out two assists, while Savannah Lundwall (Fiskdale, Mass.), Emily Baker (Stratham, N.H.) and senior captain Alexia Basile (West Hartford, Conn.) each scored once for Emmanuel in the win.
Junior goalie Lauren White (Lynnfield, Mass.) earned the win in net for the Saints, making 10 saves in her 60 minutes played.
Emmanuel is back in action in the Florida sunshine on Tuesday afternoon, March 10th, when the Saints take on Becker College in a 2:00 PM start.
