WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced their All-Conference selections on Tuesday, Feb. 27, with Saints senior Olivia Matela (Swampscott, Mass.) being named to the GNAC Second Team and first-year Meagan Schuermann (Cooperstown, N.Y.) being placed on the All-Rookie Team.
Emmanuel senior Alexis Sanders (Saco, Maine) added an All-Sportsmanship Team nomination on the 2023-24 All-Conference announcement.
Matela moves to the All-GNAC Second Team this season after being voted to the Third Team following the 2022-23 season. The senior guard played 27 games this season and averaged 13.3 points and career-highs of 2.7 assists and 2.1 steals per game.
Over three seasons, Matela has shown her skill as a volume scorer with career averages of 11.7 points per game while making 2.0 three-point field goals per game. Dating back over the last 30 seasons, Matela's 166 made three-pointers are the fourth-most over that span. Matela has 956 career points and sits 44 points shy of becoming the 26th player in team history to reach 1,000 career points.

Making the most of her 19.8 minutes per game, Schuermann was third on the Saints in scoring average with 10.3 points per game. As a rookie, Schuermann was the GNAC's only player to average at least 10 points while playing under 20 minutes per game.
The first-year guard added 3.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game in her first season with the Saints. She shot 38.2 percent from the field, including 29.0 percent from beyond the arc.
Emmanuel finished their season at 15-12, making their ninth consecutive GNAC Semifinals appearance before bowing out to the eventual champion in Saint Joseph's College. The Saints winning record for 2023-24 ensured an over .500 winning percentage for the 25th straight season.
