Women’s Basketball Nets 106 Points in Conference Win at Dean

FRANKLIN, Mass. – February 15, 2024 – The Dean College women's basketball team was defeated by Emmanuel, 106-31, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Thursday night.
The Bulldogs (2-21, 0-13 GNAC) will conclude the season on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Saint Joseph's (Maine). Emmanuel (13-11, 10-3 GNAC) travels to Anna Maria on Saturday for a noon tip.
Senior Tori Viau (Johnston, R.I.) led Dean with 12 points and three steals. Senior Cat Thomas(Woodbridge, Conn.) was 4-of-5 from the floor for eight points.
Kalia Saunders (Larksville, Pa.) led six Saints in double figures with 16 points and a game best 10 rebounds. Paris Atuahene (Phoenix, Ariz.) finished with 12 points, eight assists and seven steals.
1st Quarter
- Emmanuel led 33-12 after the first.
- The Saints scored 22 points in the paint and turned nine Dean turnovers into 17 points.
- Viau had five points for the Bulldogs.
2nd Quarter
- Dean shot 50% from the floor (6-12) in the second half, but Emmanuel pushed its lead to 55-25 after shooting 53% (9-17).
- Four Saints had eight points in the half.
- Thomas had six points in the quarter for the Bulldogs.
- The Saints finished the half with 34 points in the paint and 14 fast break points.
3rd Quarter
- Emmanuel held Dean to one bucket, while making 12-of-17 field goal attempts for a 27-4 discrepancy on the scoreboard.
4th Quarter
- The visitors shot 73.3% in the final quarter while playing solid defense once again.
- The Saints outscored Dean 24-2.
