Saints Women’s Basketball Drops Home-Opener 62-53 to Emerson
BOSTON – A 13-point fourth quarter advantage pushed Emerson (2-1) past Emmanuel (0-2) Tuesday night on Andy Yosinoff Court. The Saints led 45-41 through the first three quarters but were outscored 21-8 in the final ten minutes to fall 62-53.

Emmanuel held the visitors scoreless for the first five minutes of the game before Ella Bushee (Walpole, N.H.) got Emerson on the board with a mid-range jumper. The Lions would work their way back into the game thanks to a pair of threes from Bri Frongilo (Hopedale, Mass.) and trailed 10-8 after one.
Frongillo continued to add to her point total in the second quarter and finished the half with 15 points. The Saints were able to extend the lead to 26-21 before the break.
The third quarter saw the Saints continue to extend their lead to as many as ten. Six third quarter points from first-year center Kaitlyn Bartash (Standish, Maine) and five from junior forward Desiree Robinson (New Haven, Conn.) led the way in holding the advantage for the Saints. An impressive 11-point quarter for Olivia Deslauriers (West Hartford, Conn.) helped the Lions claw their way back into the game. Emerson finished the quarter on a 7-2 run as they were able to cut the lead to five heading into the final ten minutes of play.
A dominant Lions fourth quarter propelled Emerson to victory. Emerson was able to tie the game within the first three minutes of the frame. With the score 52-52, the visitors finished the final seven minutes on a 10-1 run. Bushee had 11 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter. Frongillo iced the game with four made free throws to take home a 62-53 come-from-behind victory.
Frongillo finished with a game-high 28 points in the win. Deslaurier added 16 points and four steals for the Lions. Robinson added 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Saints. Olivia Matela (Swampscott, Mass.) finished with eight points and five assists.
Up next, Emerson will travel to UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday (11/18) at 7:30 P.M. Emmanuel returns to action this Saturday at 3 P.M. against St. Joseph's (L.I.) on Andy Yosinoff Court as part of the 40th Annual Emmanuel College Tip-Off Classic.
