WINTHROP, Mass. - A trio of Saints were named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Volleyball All-Conference Teams on Tuesday afternoon, as announced by the GNAC Office. Sophomore Michael Shelley (San Francisco, Calif.) was named to the GNAC First Team, fellow sophomore Trey Guest (Newington, Conn.) was voted to the GNAC Second Team, and junior Louis Da Silva (Marseilles, France) was named to the GNAC Third Team and represented the Saints on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Shelley, who was voted to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region 1 team on Monday, made a name for himself in Division III and the GNAC this season, leading the conference with 4.90 kills per set, which also ranked third-best among all Division III players. His 338 total kills were second-most in the GNAC while his efficient .322 hitting percentage was good for sixth in the conference. More than just an offensive threat, Shelley's 43 service aces and 0.62 service aces per set were both second-best in the GNAC. In total, Shelley accounted for 401 total points in his sophomore season, another number that led all players in the conference.
Guest showed continued improvement after a strong first year for Emmanuel, ranking second on the team in several categories. Guest finished the season with 2.25 kills per set and a .227 hitting percentage, good for 11th and 15th, respectively, among GNAC players. Despite the right-side hitter position on the Saints, Guest showed himself to be a strong defensive player in the Saints lineup, averaging 1.61 digs per set, 13th-best in the GNAC and third-highest among GNAC players with at least 150 total kills.
Now in his third year, Da Silva took his game to another level this season, cementing himself as an elite blocker and efficient attacker. In 74 sets across 23 matches, Da Silva amassed 69 total blocks with 16 solo and 53 assisted. The junior middle blocker ranked third in total blocks and fourth in both solo and assisted blocks in the GNAC this season. His 0.93 blocks per set ranked third in the GNAC and 27th across NCAA Division III. Da Silva's .393 attack percentage led the Saints among players with at least 27 sets played.
The Saints finished the season at 17-10 overall and won their first GNAC Postseason match in five years, qualifying for the GNAC Semifinal Round for the first time since 2019.
