Coach Dan Roberts Steps Down as Men's Soccer Head Coach, Assistant AD at Emmanuel
BOSTON – Saints Assistant Athletic Director, Clemente Field Coordinator, and men’s soccer head coach Dan Roberts announced on Tuesday, Dec. 19 that he will be stepping down from his roles, effective Jan. 3, 2024.

Roberts finishes his coaching tenure at Emmanuel as the program's all-time winningest coach after a record of 45-61-23 over eight seasons with the Saints. His team's won 31 Great Northeast Athletic Conference games since he took over in 2016, also the most by a head coach in team history. Roberts coached 13 All-GNAC Players in his tenure.
Among his many accomplishments, Roberts head coached a Saints team that made the Great Northeastern Athletic Conference Semifinals for just the second time in program history in 2022 and scored perhaps their biggest win in team history on Oct. 11, 2023, defeating Regional Ranked No. 4 Bridgewater State, 1-0, on Clemente Field.
"I'm extremely grateful for my eight years at Emmanuel College as the Head Men's Soccer Coach," said Roberts. "The opportunity to work with so many incredible student-athletes, coaches, and colleagues over the years has been the highest honor."
As Assistant Athletic Director and Clemente Field Coordinator, Roberts played a vital role in securing the practice and field space used for Emmanuel's men's and women's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse, and softball programs.
"Coach Roberts has been an integral part of our department over the last eight years and his leadership will be thoroughly missed by not only his student-athletes but also staff and faculty across campus," said Emmanuel Director of Athletics Olivia Berry. "We all wish him the best of luck in his new venture and I would like to thank him personally for the unwavering support over the years."
Roberts spent 11 years on collegiate sidelines as a coach. In addition to his eight seasons as Emmanuel, he spent the early parts of his career as an assistant coach for Wentworth (2013-2014) and UMass Boston (2015).
"This experience has helped me grow and mature personally and professionally," added Roberts. "While I'll miss the Saints team, the department, and the community dearly, I'm excited to begin the next chapter."
Emmanuel College and Emmanuel College Athletics have launched a national search looking for the program's next coach.
