WINTHROP, Mass. – Saints first-year Guilherme Silva (Malden, Mass.) was named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team, as announced by the GNAC Offices on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Silva is joined in the All-Conference Honors pool by junior David Gydus (Arlington, Mass.) who was named to the All-Sportsmanship squad.
Silva, a first-year forward for Emmanuel, finished his rookie campaign with three goals and one assist for seven total points. His three goals and seven points were both good for second on the squad in 2023.
Perhaps his most memorable goal of the campaign came in a non-conference match against then-No. 4 ranked in Region II Bridgewater State.
On a Saints counter-attack, Silva fought off two Bears defenders, broke in behind the back line, and found the left-side netting, marking the only tally of the match in a 1-0 win.
Gydus, a junior midfielder and two-year captain of the Saints, made two appearances for Emmanuel this year on his way to being voted to the All-Sportsmanship team.
The Saints finished the season at 6-11-1 (5-8-1 GNAC) and were knocked out in the GNAC Play-In Round at Regis, following a 2-1 loss to the Pride.
