Anderson, Mehlhorn Pick Up GNAC Goalie, Rookie of the Week Honors
WINTHROP, Mass. – Saints senior Eric Anderson (Sparta, N.J.) scored a pair of wins while first-year Cooper Mehlhorn (South Portland, Maine) totaled eight points in two games, resulting in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Goalie of the Week and Rookie of the Week nomination, respectively, as announced by the GNAC Office on Monday afternoon.
WINTHROP, Mass. – Saints senior Eric Anderson (Sparta, N.J.) scored a pair of wins while first-year Cooper Mehlhorn (South Portland, Maine) totaled eight points in two games, resulting in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Goalie of the Week and Rookie of the Week nomination, respectively, as announced by the GNAC Office on Monday afternoon.
Anderson's first of two wins of the week came against New England College in a 15-10 victory on April 3 with the senior goalie making seven stops. On April 6, Anderson scored another win after 13 stops in the Saints goal in a 17-7 win over Elms.
Anderson has played all by 47 minutes in the Emmanuel net and holds a 12.17 GAA and a save percentage of 52.3 with four games remaining in the regular season.
Mehlhorn was named the GNAC Rookie of the Week for the second time in three weeks after his eight-point week consisted of four goals and four assists. Against New England, Mehlhorn finished with a hat trick and three assists for a career-high six-point game. In the win over Elms, the rookie attackman scored once and assisted on one goal.
Mehlhorn leads the Saints with 35 points on 18 goals and 17 assists. The 35-point total has Mehlhorn in 16th place in points in the conference.
The Saints are on the road for a pair of games this week, starting on April 10 with a 6:00 p.m. game at Regis, followed by an April 13 game at Mitchell, set for 1:00 p.m.
