Men’s Lacrosse Wins Third Straight Game in Season Finale vs. Albertus Magnus
BOSTON - An Emmanuel offensive outburst that saw the Saints score the first 15 goals of the game would end with EC taking the regular season finale victory, 17-3, over the Albertus Magnus Falcons on Wednesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action.

THE LEAD – An Emmanuel offensive outburst that saw the Saints score the first 15 goals of the game would end with EC taking the regular season finale victory, 17-3, over the Albertus Magnus Falcons on Wednesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless start of nearly seven minutes, the Saints broke through into the scoring column midway through the opening quarter on a goal by junior Ryan Castle (Boxford, Mass.) to take a 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later, Castle struck again with a man-up goal to double the lead. EC would add a pair in the final 3:47 to lead 4-0 after one quarter.
- Sophomore Robert Favuzza (Saugus, Mass.) kicked off the scoring just 16 seconds into the second quarter to boost the Saints lead. Later in the quarter, sophomore Aidan Sullivan (Burlington, Conn.) added a goal while Ryan Castle finished off his hat trick before the half, sending Emmanuel into the break with a 7-0 lead.
- Four more goals came in the third quarter for the Saints including one each for Ryan Castle and Favuzza, along with tallies from junior Drew Chant (Warwick, R.I.) and sophomore Thomas Quigley (Marblehead, Mass.), helping EC to an 11-0 lead with one quarter to play.
- Meanwhile, on the defensive end, the Saints were limiting the Falcons chances, forcing 32 turnovers by the Falcons while allowing just 10 shots on goal.
- Emmanuel started the fourth quarter with the first four scores, upping their lead to 15-0, but Albertus Magnus sophomore Cody Walczak (Killingworth, Conn.) broke through for the Falcons with 8:23 left, breaking up the shutout. Junior Zaheim Wilkins (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) added a man-up goal for AMC just under two minutes later. In total, the fourth quarter proved to be the highest scoring of the game, with the Saints outscoring the Falcons 6-3.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Ryan Castle led the game with five goals to go along with two assists. He added two ground balls in the victory.
- Quigley also finished with a seven-point night, coming through with two goals and five assists.
- Favuzza scored four times for the Saints while senior Colin Dickinson (Barre, Vt.) finished with a hat trick.
- Five Saints finished with at least two caused turnovers, led on the night by senior Samuel Burghardt (Gorham, Maine), who managed a game-high four caused turnovers.
- Junior Randy Castle (Boxford, Mass.) made seven saves while grabbing his second straight win to improve to 3-5 this season.
- Along with Walczak and Wilkins, Falcons senior Jayme Toro (East Haven, Conn.) scored for AMC.
- Senior goalie Dane Walsh (Bethany, Conn.) came up with 20 saves on the evening. The 20-save performance is the sixth time this year Walsh has amassed 20 or more saves in a game.
UP NEXT
- The Saints have qualified for the GNAC Postseason Playoffs, locking in the No. 6 seed for the upcoming tournament. EC will head to No. 3 Rivier University for the GNAC Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon.
- The Falcons finish the conference schedule at 1-9, missing the GNAC Postseason Tournament in 2022.
