LEICESTER, Mass.- Becker College Director of Athletics Frank Millerick has announced the hiring of Trevor Craven as the head men's lacrosse coach.
"I am very excited to have Trevor Craven join the Becker athletic staff. He has been an integral piece to the recent success of Emmanuel men's lacrosse. I look forward to working closely with Trevor as we continue to grow the Becker lacrosse program," said Millerick.
Craven comes to Becker College after spending the last six years as the assistant men's lacrosse coach at Emmanuel College. During his time at Emmanuel, Craven helped guide the Saints to three consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships, including three NCAA Tournament appearances. Craven played an essential role in recruiting a three-time GNAC Defensive Player of the Year, the 2014 GNAC Rookie of the Year and numerous All-GNAC selections.
"Coach Craven was an intricate member of the Emmanuel College men's lacrosse program from the very beginning," said Emmanuel College Head Coach Brendan McWilliams. "We're going to miss him but can't thank him enough for helping develop a great lacrosse culture for our program. We wish him nothing but the best in the next step in his coaching career."
Craven is a graduate of UMass Boston, where he was a four year starter from 2002-2005. During his time at UMass, Craven helped the Beacons qualify for the Little East Conference Tournament three times, earning a spot in the ECAC Semifinals in 2005. In 2005, Craven was the recipient of the William Puerto Award, which is given annually to an athlete for his leadership and dedication to the UMass Boston athletic program.
"I'm excited to join the Becker community and lead the lacrosse program," said Craven. "Coach Degnan left a great foundation in place and now it's time to take the team to the next level."
