ELIZABETHTOWN HANDS MEN'S LACROSSE FIRST LOSS OF SEASON, 15-5
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Senior midfielder Cory Boushell (Chambersburg, Pa.) recorded a game-high five points on four goals and one assist to lead the Elizabethtown men’s lacrosse team past Emmanuel College, 15-5, Sunday afternoon in spring break action at the Ashley Booth Filed. With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 2-0 on the year while the loss is the first of the 2013 campaign for the Saints who fall to 2-1.
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Senior midfielder Cory Boushell (Chambersburg, Pa.) recorded a game-high five points on four goals and one assist to lead the Elizabethtown men's lacrosse team past Emmanuel College, 15-5, Sunday afternoon in spring break action at the Ashley Booth Filed. With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 2-0 on the year while the loss is the first of the 2013 campaign for the Saints who fall to 2-1.
The action was even both early and late in the contest but Elizabethtown dominated play during the middle half portion, scoring 12 consecutive goals en route to the victory.
Emmanuel opened the scoring just 34 seconds into the contest when sophomore middie Ryan Sabuda (Indianapolis, Ind.) netted an unassisted marker to give EC the 1-0 cushion. Elizabethtown responded with back-to-back goals by freshman middie Tucket Keefer (Ephrata, Pa.) and Boushell to go ahead 2-1 before the Saints tied it at 2-2 when freshman middie Justin Kelly (Collegeville, Pa.) fed freshman attackman Kaile Daley-MacLean (Moretown, Vt.).
With under five minutes remaining in the first, the Blue Jays began their assault on the back of the net as freshman Jordan Bowser (Hershey, Pa.) started the 12-goal run with a score to make it 3-2. E-town closed the quarter with its fourth goal in the action by sophomore Russ LeClair (Elkridge, Md.) to take a 4-2 lead into the second quarter.
It was all Elizabethtown in the second as they outscored Emmanuel 7-0 in the quarter to take an 11-2 lead into halftime. LeClair netted two more goals in the quarter while five other Blue Jays found the back of the net including Boushell, Bowser, sophomore Colin Corcoran (Hershey, Pa.), freshman Dillon O'Dell (Lancaster, Pa.) and junior Brian Hicks (Kingsville, Md.).
In the third quarter, two Boushell goals sandwiched with a score by junior middie Craig Hunsberger (Perkasie, Pa.) made it a 14-2 lead for the Blue Jays. Emmanuel was able to stop the run when Kelly found the back of the net with 5:38 remaining in the third to make it 14-3.
O'Dell scored the final Elizabetown goal of the afternoon midway through the fourth quarter before Emmanuel closed out the game with the final two scores coming from Sabuda and Kelly to account for the 15-5 final.
Blue Jays faceoff man Davis Latimore (Elizabethtown, Pa.) was in control for most of the action, winning 13 of 17 draws while scooping up a game-high nine groundballs.
E-Town sophomore goalie Chris Wenger (Kingsville, Md.) notched the win with nine saves over 51 minutes of action while junior Adam Moore relieved him for the final nine minutes, making two stops.
Sophomore Austin Lauzier (Bedford, N.H.) made 10 saves over 51 minutes of action before being relieved by sophomore Justin Byers (Indianapolis, Ind.) who made three saves.
